Or learning to swim, for example. "Physiological learning" - is there a correct term for that? The thing is, before it was difficult, impossible even, and then you can do it for a few seconds, and then a bit longer, and then some moment arrives when it becomes forever easy, or effortless even.

"No, there isn't" clarifies Jonah Lehrer in his followup article, after anti-science numpties seize on his article to validate their own agendas

Re: SMP Life is Being Drunk -Random Content thread
I was thinking about the most ridiculous, arbitrary forms of scale out there.
Kinsey scale strikes me as pretty high up there (not saying I disagree with the findings, just the method.)
Same with the scoville scale, and any of the personality test ones.
Any one know of any less scientific ones?

5. Beard-Seconds

---
You take the average length that a beard grows in a single second. Light-year = fast moving thing over long time period. Beard-second = slow moving thing over short time period. Haha, very funny, bearded physics guys. In case you care, it’s 5 nanometers.

I'm not one for foo-foo drinks, but will take this under consideration. I will resist for as long as I am able, which might not be long, considering my surroundings.
Using my midwestern know-how, I did build what I thought was a very sturdy and impenetrable beer can fort (to fortify the small wall that lets any passers-by know "this is my desk, not yours") on and around the desk, but it really didn't look right (as you implied with umbrella drinks) and my fiancee dismantled it while I was napping next to the pool which proved it quite penetrable.
I have notices certain difficulties with my new locale. Namely, when you ask about internet service or TV or phone, they just laugh. I actually had an AT&T salesperson say "I don't want to sell you any services because you will just come back here and yell at me." She/he (it is, on occasion, hard to make such fine distinctions here) added "don't tell my boss I said that, because I will get fired."

You need some motivational posters to brighten the place up, Brian.

Taken under advisement, but I really don't have anywhere I'd be willing to block the view of. Maybe I could attach them to the ground, but that seems a rather silly place to place posters.
I am wondering what true happiness is*, and will probably just enjoy the view and enjoy that I get to do what I do and they give me money to do it.
*as opposed to the fake happiness that is implied.

Re: SMP Life is Being Drunk -Random Content thread
A man takes the lift up to his flat on the 11th floor. He normally takes the lift to 6th floor, and walks the rest of the way. (The lift works well, and is capable of going to the 11th floor.)
After entering his flat, he shoots himself. He dies soon after. However, if he had looked under his doormat before going into the house, he wouldn't have shot himself.
What's under the doormat?
