I mean what on earth is the point to be going to all these games spending money/time if you do not at least believe in a good season at start that can still rally the bet 10-100 times.
Then its up to you to sell it or be smarter than that. If you sell it do it only to diversify with other teams that can defeat them and adjust position with say 70% still there. You never sell it of course if they dont have a substantial run if it simply rallies a couple times in value, you hold on to it and consider it lost money. You are in it for the real thing and diversify only when it has finally become irrational not to do so because it is big time money now. You are not doing this to win change money back, you do it to be there when it happens.
There's a fine tradition of supporting rubbish clubs as well. I used to know a group of Leyton Orient supporters. Winning anything was very much besides the point.
This old joke reflect the point
A QPR fan walks into a pub with his dog just as the football scores come on the TV. The announcer says that QPR have lost 3-0 and the dog immediately rolls over on its back, sticks its paws in the air and plays dead. "That's amazing," says the barman, "what does he do when they win?" The QPR fan scratches his head for a couple of minutes and finally replies, "I dunno... I've only had the dog for eight months."
