I might go with Anyplace Mouse Mat. Its informal colloquiality will appeal to the kind of person who needs to know they can use their mouse on the sofa even if the dog yakked on it two days ago. The kind of person whose home contains no perfectly smooth glass surfaces that aren't also windows.

You may have to pay off Disney, but I like the Mickey Mouse Mat.

Cheers, and it's not belated - it's half-eight in the morning here, I just happened to be on at midnight. Wouldn't have mentioned it at all, but it's the big three-oh, so I suppose that's significant.

Update: working prototype now constructed and in use. Cheaper and far more effective than I'd dared hope.

Industry and corporate based science? Say it isn't so....

Interesting, nonetheless. It's a sad fact about the state of scientific research today that the majority of it is driven by corporate motives. If something is not cost-effective, even though it can save lives and bring social and cultural advancement, yet simultaneously not having profit potential, it will not even make it to the drawing board.

I just want to apologise, profoundly and sincerely, for participating in the couple of dozen posts that constituted the temporary hijack of what, but for the ignorance and selfishness of my confederates in villainy and I, would have otherwise been the greatest thread in the history of the forum.

I realise that mere words can do nothing to dispel the incalculable damage wrought by those other words, but I cannot simply sit in silence. I am really, really, really sorry that I forced so many people to scroll past so many posts that didn't interest them. I almost dare not contemplate the broken marriages, shattered friendships, perhaps even the descent of some affected into addiction or madness, all as a result of having to scroll past posts they did not want to read in a thread that they did want to read. Clearly, the thread is now ruined FOREVER and no amount of silence can ever allow the original conversation to resume.

I truly hope that over the coming years and decades, I will be able in some small measure to counter-balance the hideous psychic trauma inflicted by this crime that shames the very word crime in its enormity. I hope you will all pray for me.

I'd like to buy a subscription for a science magazine, atm I'm deciding between "Nature" or "Science" , any recommendations ?

Can I ask why and what fields you are mainly interested in? I have to read a lot of articles in Nature and Sciene because of my area of research - but I would never, ever consider to get a subscription for fun....
