After trying to argue mathematics with someone who doesn't even understand the rigorous definition of a limit, I have a much better appreciation for those philosophers who (durkadurka, e.g.) get annoyed by lay people who haven't read much actual philosophy, let alone spent hours and hours writing and thinking about philosophy. People really need to do the requisite background study before they try to argue things. It's like talking to a brick wall.

Oh man. I'm literally probably the only person over 30 in Australia who has heard of Brand New. A couple years ago I bought a ticket to a music festival here called Big Day Out because Rage Against The Machine were headlining. After getting the ticket I downloaded a song or two from all the artists that were playing that I'd never heard of. For Brand New I got Sic Transit Gloria and was intrigued. I ended up downloading all their albums and am a fan now. By far my favourite songs off Deja Entendu are Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't and Play Crack The Sky. Honourable mentions to Gloria, Quiet Things, Guernica and Good To Know...At Big Day Out I caught about the first 4-5 songs of their set, surrounded by mostly 18 year old emos wanting to hear songs off their first album, then unfortunately had to leave to catch RATM. They were good though. They played Sowing Season, Archers and Okay I Believe You... and I don't remember what else.

Quiet Things is my favorite Brand New song and probably in my top 10 favorite songs by anyone ever.
