I am a slow eater but not slow enough to be tilting. I take something like 20-30 min always and can even go for 40-50 if seeing something interesting at the same time and it is a significant meal to begin with after a long day out say. If with other people it can easily go over 1 hour.

A family's meal time is an important part of the day. It ought to last a while.

Why eat fast and not enjoy the experience? It is better for digestion likely too. Now if one is ridiculously slow like they are playing with their food and not liking it or eating in slow motion then surely the hell with this bs.

Let me make clear: 'Beale's Law' has nothing to do w/ whether a person is a fast or slow eater when by themselves. I'm proposing that there is a subconscious dynamic at work in the social eating situation that will cause everybody to finish w/i one minute of each other.

Apparently this is a forum of loners bec nobody's reported back yet. I will point out that the law applies to fast food restaurants also. Hopefully some of you go out w/ friends to SOME kind of restaurant every now and then.

Some dinners are more demanding than others

Howard, almost every meal I've ever had with other people violates Beale's "Law". Like 9 out of 10 times. Sometimes I'm faster, sometimes I'm slower, but it's almost never within a couple minutes.

I've had lunch twice with the same coworker since learning of BL, and we've both finished within maybe 60-90 seconds of each other. Not much sample size yet, but I'll keep paying attention.

lol, the law applies to restaurant dining, and not to an all you can eat until you can barely make it to the couch orgy of eating. Come to think of it I have to make a revision for buffets: Everybody dining in a group at a buffet will leave w/i three minutes after the first person asks if everyone is done.

btw, we eat Turkey Day at a buffet, no couch. I still remember those times when I could hardly make it. Ah, the good old days.

Where at? I usually cook it myself but this year I'll be in a place that's not conducive to cooking. I'm considering Vegas, but may go local.

Hyatt Regency Scottsdale. ~$70/person. Hopefully no company, besides my sister and her fake husband, show up.

Ouch, spendy. Worst part is, as you noted, no couch. Which implies, no football. Rough
