I had just returned from travelling in India at the time, which was where the panic attacks had started. I went to a doctor and said I didn't feel well, not mentioning The Fear because I was too embarrassed about it. After several months of blood tests, X-rays, etc, in various places, I wound up at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, because nobody could figure out what was wrong, if anything. There they took a sample of my ****, and it transpired that I had a colony of worms living inside me, which was cured simply by taking some tablets for a couple of days.

So either the panic attacks were serendipitous in that they got the worm infection diagnosed, or there was some deeper connection between the two. I don't know which.

My anxiety/panic attacks started when I was abroad on vacation. I had been getting terrible headaches for a couple months but being in Europe away from hospitals caused me to panic. What if something happened and I was unable to receive help? I was convinced I had a brain tumor.

When I returned to NY I immediately had an MRI done and they found a cyst near my brain; however, the cyst was not the cause of my headaches and other visual problems.

2 years later and they still haven't figured out what's wrong with me, even after worsening symptoms.

moral of the story... we're all screwed

I'm going to prove by analogy that argument by analogy is literally the best form of argument possible. I dunno if it'll work or not, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Ewwwwww. What kind of worms? Maybe you can go on that show Monsters Inside Me where they have people with worms swimming around in their eyes and ****.

Dunno. White ones.

(Wish I'd asked, but I was too busy being pissed off at how simple they were to treat but how difficult they were, apparently, to diagnose.)

(One of the several doctors I saw was some kind of consultant specialist. Dr Yong his name was. He spent the entire session telling me what a fantastic doctor he was, and how he recently had been the only doctor capable of diagnosing a case of Lassa Fever, and how his secretary knew more than most doctors just by being around him all these years, etc. At the end he told me there was nothing wrong with me and discharged me, only later to claim that he hadn't discharged me. Stupid ****.)

Means of exposure include: ingestion of undercooked meat, drinking infected water, and skin absorption.
I always thought it was from water, for some reason. (Can't have been meat because I didn't eat any.) Towards the end I got a bit blase and didn't stick to the bottled stuff.
