Nothing wrong with that, per se. I love finding out that I had some fact incorrect. Was overjoyed when I found out that I was a year younger than I thought I was.*

They have many things in their favor:

1) Not much nitting for them to do. Centuries only come around approximately once every hundred years, from what I understand.

2) Ascetically much less displeasing than the "but it is just an arbitrary number you are celebrating" folk.

3) As a group, fairly unlikely to attempt to convince victims that "sudoko is fun."

*same basic error as the century error. Very silly mistake, but made me laugh my ass off to have made it.

I don't mind learning I was wrong about something, but in this case I need validation.

What year followed 1 BCE? If the answer is "Year 0", provide documentation. If your answer is 1, explain why you're comfortable with the 1st century only having 99 years.

And, yes, I understand that the standard modern calendar was established much later.

We will never get a suitable point to correct the original flaw masque pointed out. We will kind of just actively have to forget about the formally correct option. The numbers are that powerful. Simply: does the year start with an 18, 19 or 20? No buts. That version of the "th century" is "correct" to 99%, maybe that's enough.

We need try to make our inexact language harm and mixing us up as little as possible.

You are not wrong. The bs calendar we use is wrong. And we shouldn't support bs. lol

Basically i am ok with giving whoever century you like 99 years to be done with this bs. Its not as if we will lose any sleep about what event belongs to what century back in the past.

I am ok with this being 2016 also. I live in 2300 anyway already, i am 6bil years old as old as my atoms minus hydrogen (but who cares i am mostly Oxygen anyway) that were developed in a supernova of that time sometime before actual solar system formed and i am ready to visit the 100th candidate for new earth using antimatter fuel.

I was in Taiwan in the years 86 and 87. I got to celebrate two New Year's (Chinese New Year and the Gregorian New Year). The Chinese New Year is more important as a celebration and is an official holiday. Currently in Taiwan it is the year 106. And they started with year 1; on January 1, 1912. It is a bit convoluted but the wiki link below explains:
