I watched a porno the other day where some guy was banging two hot girls, finished off on their faces, and was screaming, crying his eyes out in ecstasy as he was cumming. The Cameraman yelled out to him: "There's NO CRYING in threesomes!"

I'm not a philosophy major or know-it-all, but I am an avid reader. I read up on the classics of Stoic philosophy at a period in my life a few years ago and became willing to dive in. For one year, I started and ended each day with reading a few pages of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius to try and condition my brain. To act and be stoic in our crazy society.

During that period, I really saw my life improve. In every aspect. I was accomplishing more. I was able to do more things simply because stress was reduced. Emotion was reduced. Oddly enough, my interpersonal relations became more vast in that short period of time, I believe, because I exuded confidence, solidarity, and problem-solving capability, even though I wasn't connecting with them on much of an intimate emotional level.

The funny thing and kink about this is, with this attitude and outlook, I was able to "win over" the girl of my liking and get seriously involved. Which is the primary need for all men, right? This ended up being my downfall. Things got so emotional, and confusion and mishandled emotions led to destruction. I veered off the Stoic path. And at that point I became undesirable to a certain degree.

Anyone want to chime in with their beliefs on stoicism? Is there a place for Stoics in our society?

I believe a study has shown that women are less attracted to smiling happy men. I guess it's because the more stoic men appear powerful.

I don't know if that means they are really attracted to unhappy frowning men. I sure hope so.

I'm pretty sure I've heard about studies showing the exact opposite.

Studies have shown that people often misinterpret or oversimplify studies.

Nice, I definitely urge you to familiarize with that.

As a side note, I was raised in the Georgetown jesuit education system which ingrained the latin phrase "Cura Personalis". To be a man for others. I think this runs parallel with Aurelius's notion of acting only on the behalf of what benefits those around you. And sacrificing self if you have to.

I can attest from experience when I was involved with me, me, me, the results were always ****ty. But when I acted on you you you or you all, it always developed into something meaningful.

I also practiced stoicism for some time...it allows us to block out distractions and reflect on inner growth...but it can also become a trap.
