Best Books For...

I know there is a specific thread for books in general, but I have a specific question for everyone:

I recently read Scorecasting: The Hidden Influences Behind How Sports Are Played and Games Are Won by Toby Moskowitz. It's a statistical analysis of sports myths, and it's pretty clever.

Does anyone know of any stats or any math/science books that are applicable to a certain topic like this? Especially those that might uncover a lot on the topic.

This is one of the reasons why poker books interested me. Some authors could analyze a topic mathematically that was once considered to not need math at all.

Like sports? Or using math and stats to develop new insights into something specific? If the latter, Freakonomics is a decent enough start.

I've seen this on Cinemax or HBO or something. Same as the book?
