was that NBC - ??? - call of the winner in the 100 metres the worst ever? first they say "first african to win in xxx years" then they say "100 metre title coming back to america" without saying "wow, we were wrong" or something like that... i don't fault them for being wrong but there was no segue to them changing the winner. it's like 2000 election they would have changed from gore to bush without explaining that it was a major change.
as we watched i think everyone agreed the dive shouldn't be rewarded. doesn't seem safe to me.... how about just breaking the finish line being good enough?
CONTROVERSY in the shot put, the olympic champ yank that finished 4th was given a red flag for a throw that woulda put him in first with 22.20ish. it was cos his foot went out of the circle at the start of the throw, except he says it didn't, says that the vid evidence vindicates him and he's challenging the result
seems like a bad situation cos the medals have been handed out and surely the winner can say yo if i knew i had to beat 22.20 with my last throw i woulda put more effort in or w/e. imo they shouldn't even measure if the throw is red flagged so as to avoid this
The way Dibaba looked in the semi, don't think she has it. It clearly had an effect when her coach got stopped with a suitcases full of drugs some time ago. Going with Muir.
Jenny Simpson is one of the best tactical racers I've seen. Quite surprised they didn't take it out a bit harder than usual to try and take the sting out of Semenya, a 3:56 or 3:57 time and I don't she gets near a medal and Muir probably get's third.
Was a great triple jump comp today too. The different style of Rojas compared with the Columbian was fascinating to watch.
