Re: Wimbledon 2012

the quality of play is insane. they should really drop the age requirement by a year or two. these are MEN who are not quite as good as the tour pros.

This was last year btw, and the #15 and #16 seeds. Saville lost in the final this year as the #1 seed.

Re: Wimbledon 2012

so how do these guys progress to pros? the quality of tennis there was really impressive...as opposed to the LOLsize of the trophies.

i have salad plates bigger than the runner up prize.

Re: Wimbledon 2012

It seems like the top "juniors" players at these tourneys usually don't end up being all that great shakes at the pro level, at least more so than in other sports.

Probably just talking out of my ass though, and biased cause my friend bagled Isner back in 7th grade and never shuts up about it now.

hehe. 7th grade pretty different than 15-16.

my brother beat troiki when they were that age at bolleteris. every coach who ever saw my bro play said he could go pro if he wanted to dedicate his life to tennis.

he didn't, so he didn't. he's way happier now though. he's joked about what's improved most about troiki's game is the fact that he doesn't seem to be whiney ****ing bitch anymore.

i guess my question then is where do most pros "come from"?

I don't know Troicki is still a huge head case especially mentally. He's known as one of the biggest chokers on tour.

Video where Troicki had fan kicked out although I don't really think he was being a bitch here:

Re: Wimbledon 2012

The best 18 year olds already play on the main tour full-time, that's why the junior Grand Slam champions don't always end up in the top regions of the seniors.

no no no. this is all fine. the stories my brother told me were much funnier. like if somebody hit a line on a "woulda been winner" running forehand, he'd whine about it forever. or if there was a questionable call, he'd cry like his mommy just took away his bottle.

the vid above is def fine. i'd prob do likewise. fan was being a bitch. not cool to do that in the middle of a match. tennis != hockey/basketball etc. fans have an implied onus not to be dicks. that guy was a dick.

my brother was commenting on the general (large) decline in apparent whineyness/bitchyness lol. it's not like he really follows troiki closely or keeps in touch w/ him so this is all anecdotal as well.
