What is the GOAT Super Bowl?
Inspired by talk in the other thread, which Super Bowl is GOAT? I guess there are many ways to define it. For me it's 42 (homer pick obv), but some could say that wasn't that great in the first 3 quarters. Anyway I included what I considered the best nominees in the poll, 46 just made the cut

In recent memory, from an unbiased point of view, prob Steelers Cardinals. Unreal.

Re: What is the GOAT Super Bowl?
We are ridiculously spoiled these days. The '80s and '90s are full of blowouts and just about every Super Bowl has been great the last decade.
I think the Giants-Pats were both meh in the first half. The first one was far better overall, but the first half was too boring for GOAT status. Went with the homer pick on the Steelers but Montana to Taylor is a strong pick as well.

Re: What is the GOAT Super Bowl?
the problem with steelers cardinals is it was the 3rd best team against the 8th best team
basically like some random bcs bowl
42 is always the answer

That game gets better in retrospect, with things like the crazy-ass sequence on the last play of the first half.
But 42 will go down in history as GOAT due to the close game, massive upset, and stopping the 19-0 at the doorstep. Objectively may not have been a better game but had a lot more historical repercussions.

Cardinals were barely the 18th best team in the league. But it was one goddamned good game.

Agreed. It's tough to define best, but this is by far the most entertaining one I have ever seen.

Re: What is the GOAT Super Bowl?
Also, Packers-Broncos and Rams-Titans may not get any votes but both were incredibly good games. Elway's first title in a long career in a pretty big upset over heavily favored defending champ Green Bay and the Titans stopped at the goal line at the very end against St. Louis.

I thought the Rams vs Titans Super Bowl was pretty awesome but I'm a Rams fan so obv I'm biased. (Tuq beat me to it)
Other great games that quickly come to mind are:
Missed Scott Norwood field goal game
San Fran vs Cinci
Cards vs Steelers (KC pointed out above)
Denver vs Green Bay
And
Giants vs Pats (first meeting)

Re: What is the GOAT Super Bowl?
Every game has been great since Raiders/Bucs, which is pretty remarkable in and of itself.

Too bad this game will never be known by its correct name, which is "Marv Levy cost his team the game by settling for a much longer field goal than he had to". Norwood's kick probably would have been good from about 44 yards and in. But Levy bitched out and put it on the kicker's foot too early. Classic coaching not to lose.

Re: What is the GOAT Super Bowl?
How much time was left in that game when Norwood went out to kick the fg??
