Honestly, the only thing to take away from this entire debacle is that your school should NEVER, EVER, EVER cooperate with the NCAA in any way. UGA continually does everything right and goes 100% by the book and lays down to be the NCAA's whipping boy, and they get zero breaks. Kolton Houston? You can sit out 4 years while we laugh at you. AJ Green gets 4 games for selling a piece of memorabilia from a bowl game at fair market value that he owned. Gurley gets 4 games because **** him, that's why.

Much better to take the route most schools do - stonewall and deny everything and don't cooperate at all. the NCAA isn't going to cut you a break because you played nice. ****'em.
May I offer another perspective:
$100,000 fine
Vacated wins
Vacated conference championship
4 years probation

All for not cooperating over $312 worth of clothes from a former teammate.

The reason he's had 35 touches per game (and the corresponding big numbers) the last two games is because there's nobody else left.

Jesus I'm so angry.
You're angry? Really? The guy basically puts his entire amateur eligibility at risk, receives a punishment that amounts to a slap on the wrist vs. what he (and probably the UGA program) would have gotten for similar offenses a decade ago, and you're angry?

Danny -

This is a complete overreaction. Calm down buddy. We don't NEED Gurley the next two games. We will be fine. Chill.

Gurley is to blame and UGA did the right thing.

In what was supposed to be two very difficult road games, UGA crushes Mizzou and Arky.

Mason may not have Murray's talent, but he's got a good head on his shoulders. We will be fine the next two games. Our playoff chances could hinge on the Auburn game. This is sort've a blessing in disguise.

Who cares what happened a decade ago. How is that relevant? 4 games is not a slap on the wrist.

Btw I think you are sortve missing the point. Danny is mainly pissed that UGA seems to be punished for doing the RIGHT thing in cooperating.

I mean, I don't even think what Gurley did was "wrong" in the strictest sense of the word. I think these guys SHOULD be able to make money off their likenesses, autographs, etc. To me that's a no brainer. But it is known that he took money, thousands of dollars, and stupid rule or not it's still a violation of stupid rule. UGA and Gurley got off light. And I'd be willing to bet a big reason for that is exactly because UGA didn't go full ****** and try to hide anything. Don't cooperate with cops trying to find a reason to arrest you, fine. Don't cooperate with the NCAA at your peril.

That's one way to look at it. Another way is that UGA/Gurley got a much softer punishment for doing the right thing in cooperating.

But yeah, as to your first point, I can't really argue with that. If the NCAA has shown us anything during these myriad investigations, it's that precedent doesn't mean jack **** to them.

This...he's so fun to watch in college and I don't think that fun will extend to NFL, so shame to miss these few games of it

Seriously though, $3000+ over two years from multiple people and incidents, and UGA has to forfeit exactly 0 wins and Gurley only misses 4 games.

UGA fans should be doing backflips over that ruling. As should UNC fans who should also expect a similarly "meh, whatever" punishment from the NCAA

dude could have been ruled ineligible for every game he had played, but a small suspension = the whipping boy getting zero breaks. wont even miss the only real game they have. probably an overall benefit since they have someone just as good for now but get to be all pumped up against auburn

ONE MILLION DOLLARS

no, apparently they found 3000 over two years? I was operating on the assumption that we were still talking about 400 dollars, one time. The dealer certainly hasn't talked to the NCAA, so I'm wondering where they got this from. UGA didn't find that or they wouldn't have asked for only 2 games. I'm wondering where that info came from.

it's reasonable if that new information holds up. I was angry because I thought we were still in the 400 dollars one time scenario. UGA is appealing so they're probably wondering what the new information is as well.

losing the appeal should result in an additional suspension week

But I'm glad 4 in a row means a lot to you. I know growing up you didn't get to experience that many wins against Florida.

Of course beating the team we hate the most four times in a row means a lot. Lol at you trying to devalue it because your team is awful. You would punch your GF in the face for a win on Saturday and you know it.

The game is devalued because of how terrible Florida is, not because I'm choosing to devalue it.

The greatest value of winning Saturday would be to laugh at Georgia for choking yet again

Well, it still has significant value to UGA. It's important for both our East and National chances. Might not have much value to your team.
