Sorry, could have made a decent OP if I'd realized we were without one. Fowler shot 65 today and scores are very low overall. Long links style course with serious rough but very wide fairways and easy greens. Wind kind of just starting to pick up for Rory, Sergio and co. DJ and Rahm both shot 75 today - DJ was clear favourite and Rahm was very low too.

FS1 coverage has been superb today - tons of golf, very little assorted BS.

If Sergio can win the masters anything can happen.

I think I like the course setup, you should be able to shoot a low score if you hit it well, and a stupid high score if you don't.

Agree with you DW, the hazards are hazards which is how it's meant to be, but there's nothing "unfair" in the setup.

I don't get why pundits say things like "he always plays well in the US Open" when it's a different course every year.

Like you could say that about the Masters but it makes no sense when this tournament is different.

Here for the Hadwin experience, almost a 7th consecutive birdie on a 100 foot putt

I don't agree with it, but maybe certain guys peak at certain times of the year?
Also, the US Open is always played on a difficult course under difficult conditions. Certain players could be better at tournaments where the winner is -2 as opposed to -15

Maybe we can stop having US Opens at mediocre courses with 100 yard wide fairways?

i've never heard of this guy xavier shuffle but he's made over $400,000 in PGA earnings this year so I guess I don't watch enough golf.

Yeah, the USGA decision makers have to be kicking themselves for cutting the rough.

Sergio seems like a near lock to win this.

How did Tiger finish?

Quite a few English guys up there in the top 11 and ties - fair play to the Beef making it there by qualifying - good luck to him on Friday!

I asked in the golf thread. Fair odds for Rickie vs the field? A lot of big guns shot themselves in the foot today.

Agree, I just don't like the idea of a 10 year old course hosting the US open. Much rather see traditional courses like Pebble Beach, Winged Foot, Pinehurst or Shinnecock.

They say that the cream rises to the top at great golf courses in these events. So considering that the top 12 in the world made the cut at about the same rate as the amateurs this probably isn't a great course, even if there is nothing specifically unfair to point at.

Yep. They position her to show her tits and ass at the same time. What a coincidence.
