Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond
Was planning and saving for a 2-3 week trip to Brazil for the world cup. But then I had to go and do something stupid like have a kid.

You guys are just lucky you'll qualify every time and get options.....I'm wondering if I'll get the chance before I'm 40! Last time Scotland were at the WC I had just turned 11

If y'all would ever consolidate your national teams you wouldn't have that problem.

Btw, super lame that the qualifier is going to be pay-per-view and not on tv again.

Zusi, Agudelo, Morales and Williams get the boot
"Boooooo", "sure, that's fair", "meh", and "thank God" respectively.

DEFENDERS (7): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Oguchi Onyewu (Sporting Lisbon), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland)
MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Jose Torres (Pachuca)
FORWARDS (6): Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Herculez Gomez (Santos), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

Really too bad they have to schedule these games during MLS Primetime Saturday nights. Wish US Soccer would take the domestic league into account more.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond
Any advice on just a couple of basic things "casual" fans should look for in this game?
besides lol goals
(things that represent good signs or bad signs for the future)

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond
Our line up has been announced, only difference to my prediction below is Webster (Hearts) in at CB and Mulgrew out to LB instead of Wallace.

I'm looking for a clean sheet. We are home, and Scotland have very little offensive firepower relative to sides we've played in the last year like France, Belgium, Mexico, etc.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond
for us my guess if we come out in 4-3-2-1:
howard
cherundolo ---- bocanegra ---- cameron ---- castillo
bradley ---- jones ---- johnson
dempsey ---- donovan
altidore
with a 4-4-2 you just pull donovan back to rm i guess. or maybe he starts on the bench. in the second half i imagine we'll see some of Wondo and Jose Torres. Edu over Jones wouldn't surprise me either. Or Bradley in the Jones spot and Torres starting. We definitely have option.
Totally spitballing of course.

Ives says that jozy (not released yet) and deuce (nagging injury) aren't playing today, so that might cause a bit of a shake up.
