If you want to get to Toyota Park from the City, there are party buses that run from bars on the North Side. $40-50 gets you a ticket, transportation and booze.

Both Danny Mwanga and Andy Najar scored today in their matches.

Edit: Almost forgot about Ike Opara's goal!

Maybe if you start now, and practice really really hard.

Damn just got to Mwanga's goal. Sick touch, hopefully he chooses USA over Congo.

If they build it in south Brooklyn (which does have a ton of space), it would face a similar problem of being too far removed from NYC.

Not sure where they could build a soccer stadium elsewhere in Brooklyn that's close to Manhattan. Maybe the Greenpoint area? Or maybe they can just blow up Bushwick and build it there.

I'm already dreading the arrival of the NY Nets stadium - I live about a 10 minute walk from where they are building it. I probably am going to have to move as the reason I live where I live is to avoid the traffic as well as the riff raff that sport arenas tend to attract. pretty tilting imo.

Dempsey to Milan would be sick. I might have to pick up a jersey and start watching Serie A

Especially if Gooch can regain form and work his way into the starting line up. Pretty awesome to imagine two Americans could be starting for AC Milan later on this year.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

dempsey to milan wouldn't be good as he would basically be a sub and wouldn't start in matches of any importance. Fulham is more than fine for him, or a move to a slightly better club would work as well. I'm of the general belief that its better to be playing week in, week out for a smaller club than go to a big club and do squat

KD,

In 2007 that exact same line of reasoning was used to explain why Clint should stay in MLS rather than go to Fulham.

Not to mention the fact that David Beckham was starting games for Milan 6 months ago and Deuce > Beckham right now.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

MLS to Fulham is much different than Fulham to Milan. Becks and Deuce don't play the same position, so I don't know how that correlation can really be made. I just don't see him breaking into the Milan central midfield or as a second striker considering who's in front of him

Its not an issue of him moving to serieA at all, I think he'd be a better fit at a club like Palermo, Sampdoria, or Napoli where he'd be able to play european football and have a much higher likelyhood of starting for those clubs then him at Milan

I'm not sure what you mean, because they are both wing midfielders. Dempsey isn't going to play a central mid role no matter where he goes.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

becks is a pure out and out winger that basically sticks to the right, Dempsey floats more in and out and is often in a more attacking position and is more forward then becks plays and has played. its not a like for like comparison and both fill completely different roles for their sides

for some reason I think Dempsey could hang at AC Milan. The league is a bit less physical and he'll get more time on the ball. He's a gamer and a big game guy tbh, I'd like to see what he can do at a place like AC Milan.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

A friend of mine is good friends with Michael Bradley's younger sister (Bob's daughter, ldo), I've been trying to bug them for the inside line on transfer rumors, but nothing concrete so far, I'll keep the thread updated, ldo.

The little that I have gleaned is that Bob already has an offer to coach a European club (no details unfortunately), but he's holding out hope for a bigger league.

Michael doesn't have any idea where he's going yet but he wants to leave Gladbach.

Also, Michael just got engaged to his girlfriend....I don't think that's common knowledge or has been reported anywhere yet, but there it is. If it gets reported in a week or whatever, you'll know my source is legit!
