In case you haven't noticed Jurgen loves Brad. They have a pretty longstanding relationship.

Wondercall,

My list was hardly definitive or anything. You're more than welcome to make your own. Mine was simply my own guess at the selections. In fact, I'd like for others to submit a list of their 23, because I am curious about what others think.

I just thought it was strange that's all. I actually like your list but I don't think Beckerman makes it while I think ifBrad can adapt quickly enough he has a good shot at starting for us given how much Jurgen likes him.

I left Holden off. I fear the worst, and I fear even if it isn't the worst that he won't last an entire season anyway. I hope it isn't the case, and he most likely takes Mix's spot if he is okay and has a good season. Cameron I just listed as extra because he may play any one of 3 different positions.
My 23 from July. I would make 2 changes to this list as of today. Edu out, Beckerman in. Gomez out, Aron in.

Looks about right to me. Think Brek's a pretty substantial dog aorn though.

Yeah, obv I've got Lichaj and Brek in there. I just think there's no way one of Lichaj/Dolo/Chandler isn't on the roster. And out of those 3, the chances of Dolo being healthy and good enough seems low, and Chandler is just not even on the radar right now. Brek is probably my only real wild card. We know JK loves him and if he's healthy and playing well, I think he's there. I'd probably leave him off if there was a more obvious player to put there, but there really isn't. Sacha could go there, but they are obviously very different players. Could also be Castillo.

Herc might be my favorite national team player, but I think he's out at this point. He's a really good player with great work rate and is always gets himself involved even when we aren't playing well, but there's just no room.

I would be surprised if Brooks makes it. He's a major question mark - to put him as a favorite to be on the squad is strange

Yeah, Castillo might make it if he shows anything between now and then. Klinsmann certainly seems to rate him given the opportunities he's had, and his national team displays have improved a bit (I think? maybe just thinking about him being decent v. Jamaica).

Lichaj has a legitimate case because he's actually playing at a high level. Brek has looked like a shell of himself for the past nine or so months and is at a club where he's not at all close to getting on the field. He is a favorite of Klinsmann's, but that'll only go so far.

The last two CB slots are wide open. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Brooks ended up with one.

Yeah, he's not a favorite either. But probably my last spot where there's no clear player, so I went slightly off the board for him. He's fighting for a spot vs the likes of Fiscal, or a miraculously healthy Gooch.

Yeah. There are a bunch of ~replacement-level (on the international stage) CBs available there; Brooks isn't too far behind someone like Goodson today (in the US pecking order; he might be a better player this second) and definitely has more upside to improve between now and then. I mean, do we really leave behind a young, athletic Bundesliga starter given our current CB pool? I dunno, thinking about it some more, he might actually be a favorite given reasonable health and form.

Anybody but Beckerman. I just hate that guy for some reason. He just seems like a huge tool with that hair, and he also sucks at soccer.

You know your'e getting old when you misread something like that a month ago and carry it with you without ever checking it again. I feel like a complete moron. Thanks for the clarification for this geriatric.

I stand by the point though. Gonna be tough for whomever is away first.

nothing official but word on twitter is Giovani benched for Chaco. Chicharito still starts alongside Oribe Peralta.

Wow, Altidore captaining. I think that's pretty sweet of Jurgen, building Jozy's confidence I guess.

I kinda like this lineup. I know you all hate every second of Beckerman but he plays this system well. I also like Mix in the #9 role. Zusi as well on the wing. USA USA USA

I don't like Beckerman, but his last half dozen outings for the US have been mostly solid. He's still prone to terrible passes on occasion, but he's responsible and is actually more of a threat to score a goal than you might think.
