Everton vs. Wolfsburg tomorrow.

As an Toffees fan, I'm still not sure if I should be getting excited for this.

Realistically, probably their best bet to somehow bink a CL berth, so I guess I'm in.

With only 2 English winners in last 30 years I doubt either Everton or Spuds have a realistic chance at winning anything.

Favourites for this aren't even in the tourney yet, so should be a lot clearer after the CL groups end.

--

Can get 6/1 on Celtic win today, not sure I'd bet them with somebody else's money.

I think you should actually, you're in quite an attractive group.

What relevance does "2 English winners in the past 30 years" have on everton's and Spurs' chances in winning the Europa league this season?

You tell me why I should believe either have a decent shot of winning it? Go on and say it, Btditw!

3rd placed teams from CL still to enter and the weight of history is against both the English teams.

I expect the Spanish and Portuguese to keep doing well.

I agree that the ECL drop outs are likely to have a better chance in winning than everton and Spurs. But Fulham made the final a few years back, and iirc as did Middlesbrough.

But what relevance does historical results have on Spurs/everton's Chances?

2 winners in 30 years speaks for itself.

--

CL place up for grabs = English teams will take it more seriously = Spuds and Everton have great chance to win it all!

Variance?

How many English clubs have made the final? Does the 30 year period include the European ban after the Heysel disaster?

Aye the variance of being not good enough often enough.

2/3 entrants per year over 30 years (give or take a few for Hysel ban) and they still only had two wins.

Give my head peace.

Yep because a one off match determines which team is better.

I don't know how many English clubs have made the final - do you?

What relevance does "2 English club wins in 30 years" have on Spurs' and everton's chances?

Maybe you should try harder?

Best of the rest from around Europe has been consistently better than their English counterparts.

I don't see why I should believe this will change overnight just because there is a CL place up for grabs.

Seems like you do believe that nonsense, need your head looked at if so.

Can add that there was 3 losing finalists too in 30 years, not that it makes for any better reading.

Poch going into wtf mode this week. First Kaboul captaincy, now:

Quote:
@SpursOfficial: #THFC team: Lloris (c), Naughton, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Bentaleb, Stambouli; Lennon, Paulinho, Townsend; Kane. #COYS #UEL
This should be our league CB pairing. No creativity. Time for some Townsend cul de sacs.

HJK: Doblas; Sorsa, Moren, Heikkinen, Lampi; Tainio, Annan; Savage, Lod, Porokara; Bancé
Eriksson, Baah, Väyrynen, Heikkilä, Perovuo, Zeneli, Kandji.

Was Vertonghen just not selected at the weekend? very strange decision... only thing i can think is Poch wanted to see Vert/Fazio together... but that would still make it a strange decision.

Interesting to see Poch see's Paulinho as a #10, although i suppose you can argue we just have more options at 4 and 8. Kane ahead of Soldado again.

If Barcelona was to fall into the EL as a third place finisher (lol) and beat Everton in the final, would Everton get the CL place the following year?

I refused to put a penny on the 6/1, feeling a bit sick now.

Can still bet us at 15/8 with a goal lead. Bookies hugely underrating us I think cos we aren't that ****ing bad.
