I honestly don't know what I want for the semis now.

Want Monaco to win the thing, followed by Atletico.

They spent money on James, then sold him.

Bought Falcao (would have sold him had it worked out). They've heavily relied on youth in this last couple of years.

Monaco-Real, Juve-Atletico (which will surely go 0-0, 0-0) please. Think Monaco has a better chance to score some goals against Real's defense.

yeah, Monaco spent a lot of money for a couple of years then immediately sold everyone they could to get back that investment

Lol and how did they buy that youth and wtf they paying them with (0 taxes btw unlike their opposition)?

Spent a bit more than just 2 players btw, didn't they buy Mouthino and his buddy for decent money?

They bought Falcao 60 millions and Moutinho 25 millions 4 years ago + a lot of players that aren't in the team anymore

Last 2 seasons they Sold Fereira Carasco + Martial for 100 millions

Their most expensive recent transfer is Bernardo Silva for 15 millions, a player that is probably worth 50m

Lol at thinking money has anything to do with Monaco recent success

Pretty sure Messi was playing in a daze for the 2nd half.

That fall was brutal.

Means nothing in the end. Barca had all the chances in the world and blew every single one of them.

Lol at thinking spending 2/300m in previous few season has nothing to do with raising the profile and progression of the club....leading to all sorts of stupid **** like having fantastic kids wanting to sign for your team.

Last edited by unwantedguest; 04-19-2017 at 04:52 PM. Reason: We'll also ignore their connection to Mendes.

SO Basically you think that if you buy 300m of players, then you sell 80% of that the next 2 years, it's a good move to develop a football team ?

And you think the success of a team with half of the player coming from the young teams, 4 years later is heavily related to that initial 300m investment ?

Martial was bought 4 millions, then sold 80 millions to Mouchester

STUPID PL teams are financing your success in Champion's league

That's the real conclusion

Did Wright in the BT studio suggest that Barca will need a new right back next season as Dani Alves is getting on a bit?

They bought a couple of players this summer, all around £10m

Last summer they signed a load of players for under £15m - They got £60m for Martial and £40m for Kondogbia, Kurza went to PSG for £25m, and i'm sure they sold a couple more for £20m. At the time when we signed Martial it took their income that summer on transfers to £150m!

Year before that we got Falcao who left because they sold James to Madrid for £60m and signed Silva (whose turned out to be utterly amazing) for £10m and he moaned about how they are no longer showing a competitive nature.

Hardly spending money! They're net on transfers must be up there with the most profitable.

They recovered from an investor pulling out his money by investing on youngs and keeping a decent amount of experience with guys like Raggi, Moutinho, Falcao wasn't even supposed to come back
Wouldn't be ideal way to run a club so no.

But it's complete folly to pretend spending hundreds of millions won't have positive effects going forward no matter how much you recoup along the way. C'mon ffs.

I just googled Mbappe and when it was time for him to sign a contract after leaving Clairefontaine he had half Europe after him along with the likes of Real, he choose Monaco but I'm sure the money being spent had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Ffs Chelsea spent a billion of Abramovic's money but have pulled the strings in since. May even have made some of that back selling players to China.

But obv has absolutely no impact on where they are now, none at all.

They are doing a similar thing to what saints have been doing successfully over the last few years. Playing youth from their academy/buying young players and improving them and selling them on for a profit.

Only difference is, Monacos youngsters are utterly immense!! Oh and they signed a couple of £60m players a few seasons ago. One of which they have sold and the other returned this year after an unsuccessful 2 year loan period at 2 different clubs.
