He has been having people drive him or this was the first (or few) times. He was sleeping at the wheel with two flat tires. He was fortunate that happened which probably prevented him from moving and hurting himself or others.

He probably couldn't move at home, wanted to go out, and took an extra pill or two which crushed him hours later.

Not that unusual of a story. He probably went to Dubai without the meds and we saw the incredible pain he was in just sitting. It was so bad he had yet another surgery. It didn't magically make him better no matter how many PR pieces he releases.

He is in brutal agony like every other rare human that has undergone multiple back surgeries in such a short period of time. He is super unique because he has added pressure to return as an athletic superstar. Every other person that has undergone that many surgeries is just hoping they can sit for one hour without crying. They are all prescribed carte blanche pain meds compared to normal population because everyone (particularly medical community) knows the pain is excruciating. Most are close to being paralyzed without meds and even with them it is tough as we see with Steve Kerr.

Kerr is the first one to say that back surgery was the biggest mistake of his life. He may be right. Tiger has had FOUR back surgeries. It may end up being 14. It may feel great for 6 months and then he is paralyzed after 6 years. Very little long-term independent data. Tiger knows this and has said once you go under the knife, your life is permanently altered. No going "back".

Personally I think Tiger did the back surgery aware this could happen but this was the only viable solution if he wanted to win in his 30s. Rehab would have been slow and may just have gotten him feeling ok but not to where he needed to be to compete as a professional athlete.

The policemen had their hands tied. Dash cam video and there may been a hit and run with flat tires. Someone could have videotaped the scene from the road. Car was dead and he was asleep.

They could have given him a ride home and had his car towed. Maybe claim dash cam video was busted.

They did give him a lot of opportunities to pass different tests. They may have chance to let him go if (supposedly) he declined the field breathalyzer test and didn't admit to pain medication. He would have registered .000 and maybe he could say he was tired and just fell asleep. They could have just given him a citation for that and the road was empty and he wasn't a danger. Flat tires severely hampered that option plus he really was incapable of driving even a block. He didn't even know where he was.

Cops treated him very lightly because they knew who he was and he was incredibly compliant. And most importantly not a threat because he was asleep! I don't even think it completely registered that he was even being handcuffed. Probably seemed like a dream/nightmare.

Agreed. The only time one can see through the media smoke to see a bit of the real character of these people is in such moments. While I hate DUI, it's a catastrophic error rather than a vicious act. His weaknesses are basically personal ones.

Don't think the "I didn't know my medication would do this" excuse holds any water for me. The onus has to be on you to not be ****ed up while you're driving a dangerous vehicle, not on the rest of us to not be on or near the road when you do so.

Personally, I think it will be 19.

Kerr is a weird case. As far as I know the back surgery was a success but his body for some odd reason just won't heal up or seal up the membrane that keeps his spinal fluid where it's supposed to be. That stuff is shared between the brain and spinal cord and he apparently leaks it out almost continuously leading to the awful symptoms he's suffering. I don't think his problem is fixable so he's stuck with this for the rest of his life.

We have been programmed for years to believe you don't drive with alcohol and meds you take for pain. One pill is so much easier to digest than 4 drinks. Yes, he was a danger on the road, but it doesn't feel as bad. Even though he acted exactly the same as someone inebriated. And medications do interact strangely with other medications. I think over time we will start viewing driving on meds near the same as alcohol. We aren't even close today though.

Great question and I was curious myself. Tons of golfers suffer from back injuries.
