You realize being religious and being intelligent are mutually exclusive. Also being educated =/= being intelligent. There are plenty of the greatest minds that believed in a greater power such as newton:
"This most beautiful system [The Universe] could only proceed from the dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being."
"Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done."
There are also other scientists and intelligent individuals that believe in a higher being. There are plenty of people that have been brainwashed to believe many crazy things, but that does not mean they are not intelligent, it means they are brainwashed into believing things that are not true.
