That's definitely true, but a bigger issue is that they are a 50 year old expansion team that was absolutely putrid for 40 years. They only had four 10+ win seasons from 1966-2006. Most of them were 4-12 and worse. The plebs here have latched onto Georgia and the SEC in general instead of the NFL.

The last decade has been good for them. No rangs but the team has had good seasons. Winning this Super Bowl would be huge for the franchise.
No back to back winning seasons until 2008/2009 makes it kind of tough to grow a fan base.

I keep hearing that even after the Steelers win, the Pats haven't played "anybody." Even saw on a Falcons board that the Seahawks loss doesn't really count as experience (despite them losing) because Rustle was kinda hurt, according to some.

Thing is, who the hell is "somebody?" There are only like 3-4 (being generous, cuz who) in the entire league, and 2 are playing on Sunday. Almost everybody sucks.

Miami was 10-4 in games they didn't play NE. They suck but still, it sounds pretty cool.

I'm fine with the statement "the pats didn't play anybody." It's true, they had the easiest schedule of any team in years. It's incorrectly applying that statement to infer that they are incapable of beating a team as good as Atlanta that irks me. The pats didn't go 8-8 against this schedule. They went 14-2 and had a PD that was 57 points better than second place. They CRUSHED their opponents which is as much a sign of being elite as anything.

The defense isnt going to suddenly forget how to play football because they're playing the best offense in the league. They'll almost certainly give up more points but it's not like Atlanta is going to march down the field without resistance every possession.

They barely lost to the seahawks if I recall and Belicheck had Pete Carrol absolutely confused for a lot of the game. They also played the Ravens where everyone hyped up Baltimore and that was the best game of the season. The patriots destroyed the Ravens.

Obviously the Pats can beat ATL ffs. But they don't need to forget how to play football, they just need to be in ****ty 1 on 1 matchups which ATL forces on teams all over the field. Obviously the Pats D isn't the Packers. But at this point i'm not sure it even matters. Most likely Pats will 'only' give up like 30. But I could certainly imagine a scenario where ATL does just march down the field every possession.

That being said, I'm sure if the above does take place, I'll be cursing out the defense for not showing up and I'll be livid that the one time our offense blows up our defense can't make a stop to save it's life.
Right the teams to end the Pats season have generally been defense first teams.

2015 Broncos
2013 Broncos
2012 Ravens (this one is iffy)
2011 Giants
2010 Jets
2009 Ravens
2007 Giants

You really need to go back to 2006 to find a shootout against a high power offense first team like the Falcons

2013 Broncos were all offense tho

Even that 2006 game, I felt like the offense blew it. They couldn't get a 1st down all 2nd half (think they had like 100 total yards 2nd half) and the D just couldn't hold up.

Before the Colts game-winning TD I believe they held Indy to 3pts on their previous 3 drives. So they stopped them in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. The offense just sucked and the Colts kept getting the ball back.

I am a Pats fan who is anticipating a game where ATL does just that. I'm expecting the ATL offense to be in the red zone a LOT.

If those drives get 7's, they win.
If those drives get 3's, they lose.

Bardy is gonna get a lot of 7's against this ATL red zone D.
ATL offense is gonna need to be almost perfect in red zone to win this game.

It's hard to get 7's against this Pats red zone D. That's why you keep reading about how good this team's SCORING defense is.

That 2013 AFCCG was just a massacre of injuries on both sides. Neither team was close to full strength.

My main concern about the game next week is obv Pats D. I know there is alot of noise about how Pats havent played any decent offenses and that is fair. At the same time for me I havent seen how the Pats will gameplan against a decent offense.

When they play bad offenses its seems like the gameplan is to just force them to put together 10+ play drives to score and most of the time they cant do it. Falcons can do that so I wonder if Pats take more risks trying to get pressure on Ryan. Falcons got alot of talent at WR but i think im most concerned about the RB's out of the backfield.

Steelers were more than a decent offense and NE mostly shut them down tho.

I do agree the Pats pass rush is clearly the achilles heal of the D. If they lose, it will definitely have me thinking if they should've kept Chandler Jones.

Lol yeah I botched that one. I guess BC they got so destroyed y the Seahawks in the SB and neither of their playoff performances were great I limped them in with the other broncos teams.

The sobering part about Pro Bowl weekend is that it's a window of the future 6 months of football-less weekends. UGHGGHHHHH

Outside of March Madness the sports world is a black hole until August for me.
