^ I thought the pod with Jalen was one of the better ones BS has done in a long time. I liked the one earlier in the week that dealt with concussions ... it was kinda dry but I learned some stuff on CTE.

He should just stick with good interviews and not try to be profound.

wiseguys love teams with great defense, because it's easier to cover if the other team can't score

to go from Jackie McMullen to Chad Millman is cringe worthy ...... I really enjoyed the Jackie M interview, maybe in my top 5 BS reports ever.

Millman reminds me of the people who go up to live pros at WSOP and get their autographs. All he has to do to be good at his job is say "Sharps like these teams because of ______" and "Here are some sleeper teams that sharps think will outperform their expectation." Instead he doesn't know anything and just babbles on giving roundabout answers.

I think my favorite was "No team has ever played 5 games in 5 days in the Big East tourney and won their first round game." Knowing him that could be a 1 or even 0 game sample.

I'd also bet Uconn has the highest seed in the NCAA tourney of any team that play 5 games in the Big East Tourney.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Attempting to win 5 games in 5 days is a long & storied tradition in the BE that dates back to 2009.

Millman wrote one really good book...The Odds. I looked forward to his podcasts because I refuse to be an ESPN insider (screw you ESPN). Simmons podcasts are very informal, so rarely does a guest annoy me or I can't finish. I skip the ones labeled reality, Jersey Shore, etc. Millman was ok, but he overgeneralizes...and it was amusing he got drilled in the Hilton contest.

opening from millman's latest insider piece:

Quote:
An interesting pattern occurred during the first four days of the NCAA tournament. On Thursday, favorites went 8-7-1. On Friday, dogs took the day, going 12-4. Then on Saturday, favorites were back in business, going 7-1. But on Sunday, they were down in the dumps again, going 2-6. What does this all mean?

A company worth 7 billion dollars that employs a majority of people who are incompetent at their jobs! How does it work?

Very much this. He has such an inflated view of comics and their importance in general. Guys like Patton Oswalt came off much better.
