The Ringer worshipping popular culture is an intended characteristic of its brand profile for advertisers

BLAKE (to Levene, who is attempting to pour himself a cup of coffee): Put. That coffee. Down! Coffee’s for closers only.
Fact check: Inaccurate. Coffee is for everyone. It can be purchased at many places, and is often offered for free in offices, hotel lobbies, gas stations after local sports teams win games, teacher lounges in schools, and other locations.

I've officially given up on Simmons, even turned off the Rapaport one halfway thru. The magic is gone for me, I suppose. He had a good run. But I will sample the first couple Monday NFL ones with Sal just to make sure.

I couldn't make it through the GG article. It's a semi funny premise, just horrifically executed.

I agree that the premise has potential - I think the problem though is the speech they picked as there really isn't anything interesting in it to fact check. The only line I thought was even semi-amusing, was the one about coffee being for everyone. The parts about whether it was a fact what Baldwin's name, car, or salary was was just brutal.

The Ringer is just so bad. I quit this article almost immediately: https://theringer.com/meet-the-new-n...27d#.t9ssoebd2

"DeAndre' Bembry plays versatile defense much like Evan Turner..."

Is there a easy way to find readership stats. Just curious if The Ringer is even doing 1/10th of what Grantland was doing. I don't know a single person that goes to that website, and it doesn't seem to be getting any twitter buzz at all besides Simmons retweets.

Tings,

You keep Bembry's name out of your mouth.

There are a few sites that provide this. All have issues with accuracy.

Without a pay subscription its also a bit hard to find historical data. Here is the best comparison I can find using the same data source.

The Ringer - for June and July it got 10 and 8.3 million page views (the big drop from month 1 is clearly not a good sign).

Grantland - in its heyday it got about 12 - 15 million page views (and was trending down at the time of Simmons departure).

Yeah I came here to post this. It has rapidly ascended to must listen to every episode status and is my favorite sports podcast.

The volume they are pumping out is also incredible given how consistently good it is. PFT has also appeared to become worried less about maintaining the PFTCommenter shtick and it's really helped move the podcast into elite territory.

I like the NFL writers at the Ringer. The main NBA guy (Tjarks) is also good. The GoT stuff was also good. Haven't enjoyed the pop culture stuff so far.

Is there a consensus best sports radio show or top sports radio show? I understand that's a broad and difficult question but my friends and I got in a bar discussion about it this past weekend.

Is Cowherd the guy with the most listeners? Would people say Cowherd has the best show and gets the best guests?

Are more people listening to a Barstool or Simmons podcast?

Basically I was a huge SVP & Russillo fan and looking for a daily or weekly podcast. I have listened to every BS Report in history. Not sure if I should be going to Cowherd, Lebatard, Barstool, or somewhere else.

both the new Mays and new Barnwell shows are fine but it's a bummer that they still don't work together. used to listen to every show. of the new versions, I've probably done 3 of each. maybe one will get my interest during the season but in general I much prefer the two host banter format vs. having guests
