I have been kinda pondering it over the last couple days because it runs counter to everything you learn in kitchens.

You know who's a real jerk about questions like this? Microbiologists.

The bacteria is approximately harmless since it already came from your body, and there's skin flecks and dander and whatnot. "You could turn them inside-out and hang them outside in the sun, like a homeless person, I guess. That'd at least not be counter-productive."

Yeah for example some labs I've worked at, we kept bacteria in the -80C freezer, which is like tucking them in for a nap. Back at incubation temp they're happy and healthy as ever

And yeah, the bacteria in general aren't really nearly as disgusting so much as just the odor in general. Wash your jeans every couple of weeks or every 4-5 washes or something. Please.

I suggest not getting the ones around $100 because they are all known to break constantly ime.

The pax 2 is $200 and worth it imo.

I had a $100 g pen and it lasted a month. Everyone I know with a pax is highly satisfied.

If you are eventually looking to go all out, a digital volcano is the way.
