Raiders and Last Crusade are so much better than Temple and Crystal Skull it's not even funny.

I guess I'd give the edge to Raiders but Last Crusade is really elite. They are very close imo. Temple blows - all I remember was short round being annoying. Crystal Lulz was obviously terrlble. I mean I could sit through it but I don't really see a reason to ever watch it again.

What kind of sports books?

Read Joe Torre's book, it is excellent.

Also read a book called the baseball economist recently which was ok.

Most books about sports/sporting events I read are golf and baseball centered, but I will read an autobiography about any sports figure from the last 100 years easily. I plowed through Jerry West's in 2 days earlier this year.

Dodgeball is on TV (TCN). Not the movie. The actual game/sport.

I rewatched the Batman trilogy on Christmas day (lol family).

Some things I wanted to share.

-Which of Batman Begins or the Dark Knight is better is a toss up. Something Batman Begins does better is the city of Gotham is more of a character. The rail system, Arkham Asylum, The Narrows, Wayne Manor...better feel to them than TDK where I could imagine that being any big American city.

The Dark Knight has better character interaction by far. Rachel, Harvey, Bruce, Alfred, Lucius...really do better jobs and have more interesting scenes together. The Joker is still the highlight of the film and obviously Ledgar was just GOATing it up the entire time.

The pacing and the way every scene transitions into the next is really brilliant. Both films really excel at this. The first hour of both movies are just so amazing and they hook you at the right spots brilliantly in both.

If I had to call it I'd say TDK>BB by a slight margin simply because the Joker made every unexpected twist and turn amazing in a way that felt more natural than Ra's Al Ghul just showing up since Joker's presence was felt through the movie.

-I liked the Dark Knight Rises the most during my 3rd viewing. Lot of the flaws of been gone over itt. They botched the reaction to Batman returning, should have been more epic. The first half of the movie was amazing and on par with with BB/TDK but the ending just felt weird.

Bane was really cool. He was the 2nd best villain in the series. I really enjoyed the prison pit aspect more on a second viewing as it's pretty ****ing epic. I guess the city being controlled by warlords was neat but I didn't like the execution of it. They have involved Miranda Tate much more as her big moment faltered as I lacked commitment to the character. The chanting music was awesome. Really just an all around great movie with a few flaws that held it back.

Yeah.

Joffrey sighting in Batman Begins was pretty epic too.

I starred at the yearly list for a long time.

It's amazing how after Star Wars came out, all the top movies were mostly epic action/adventures. James Bond started the trend but there were still movies that would have no chance of cracking the top now like Exorcist, 2001, the Graduate. I guess that's all there was to offer back in the day.

Then you get to see how ****ing awful mainstream audiences have become. Star Wars, ET, Indiana Jones movies...ok, pretty good mostly, then you start the trend toward the poopy. Ghost, Jussaric Park (OVERRATED), Independence Day, Titanic, Armageddon...poopy ****ing movies.

Then Episode 1 comes out and the toilet is just set on random poop. I can live with the Harry Potters, the LOTRs, but those Pirate movies sucked. Avatar was massively overrated. Dark Knight and Avengers winning is pretty cool. Toy Story 3 winning 2010 is the feel good story of the year cause that was probably the best one to win in a long time (if you don't count TDK which I do).

I don't really know what I'm talking about come to think of it anymore.

re: indiana jones - crystal skull obviously the worst of the 4 but was not as bad as people make it out to be - it wasn't a good movie, but it wasn't a bad movie either. tired of people thinking that movies that are totally silly at bottom (but still really good) are these amazing untouchable accomplishments.

Just finished the entire "Wool" series. Highly recommend. I usually don't read a ton of contemporary fiction (I'm a snob who reads nonfiction and classics), but this was great. Superb quality writing. It was originally formulated as a series of short stories (now coupled together) so it's really cheap for Kindle. Start with the "Wool Omnibus Edition." The author is Hugh Howey. I believe it was the number one independent Kindle book of 2012 (which is how I discovered it).

Also recommend Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis (the author of Moneyball) which is a nonfiction (at least I think it is) account of working in the bond trading market in the 1980s. Hilarious and informative book.

Triumph simply doesn't see the Crystal Skull on the same level as The Maltese Falcon.

i've started Deadwood. Bout 9 eps in. While certainly awesome, some of the casting leaves a lot to be desired. I mean the ****ing Boy Meets World dad? He sticks out like a sore thumb. Not a big fan of the actress who plays Joanie either.

But Oliphant and Al Swearengen and a bunch others are so so good that it's easy to look past the duds.

Ya, I just started as well, I think I'm on ep7 of s1. Olyphant and McShane are great. The show overall hasn't truly grabbed me yet like some others but it's very good.

Raiders and Crusade are def close, I always just give the edge to Raiders because as awesome as Connery is, I feel like Crusade is just a tad cheesier than Raiders, I dunno. Also, Belloq was a better villain than Donovan imo.
