I understand where you are coming from. If he changed his avatar to nazi pepe after the events in Charlottesville then I would consider it in extremely poor taste and would understand a lengthy ban.

As it stands the ban is two weeks long, one for the avatar, the second for circumventing it. I just find it to be a gross exaggeration and suspect that whoever handed it out is living his frustration over the events in Charlottesville out on random guys on 2p2 and that isn't cool.

Perhaps a fair compromise would be to decrease the total length of the ban to one week, one day for the avatar and the remainder for circumventing the ban. Which, as ~everyone here understands, actually is a cardinal sin of 2p2 posting. But I'm the guy batting for the guy sporting an avatar of nazi symbols.

If the purpose of the avatar was to mock Trump's playing footsie with Nazis then ban is ridiculous and should have been just told to remove it if mod thought poster inadvertently sent wrong message. If it was to celebrate Trump's "stance" on Nazism then ban is perfectly fine. Should have been clear from the poster's posting which one it was but if it somehow wasn't clear then can see leaning on the side of banning.

The purpose of the avatar was lols and has been around for like a year.

I've had to explain myself to Mat on at least 1 but I think multiple occasions when I ban someone for more than a couple days for their first banning.

As much as you may want it to be one way, this was a NA situation if I'm not mistaken.

i think what happened was someone referred to the french as frogs, 72off was a mod at the time, he overreacted (imo) & started threatening ppl with bans if they kept doing it, and then quite a few posters went slightly bonkers and started freaking out and spamming pepe jpgs and gifs as if this mod ruling was the greatest injustice since apartheid. was pretty weird

today someone told me about this thing the people at netflix are doing where you pay $10 a month and can go to real life movie theaters as much as you want and they pay the tickets. Has anyone heard of this/used this? It sounds like pretty good value

The last movie I went to was Dunkirk and that ticket alone was $17 so that sounds like a huge value. I'm guessing there are massive restrictions on what shows you can go to if it's only $10 a month.

Nope. Anything you like, limited to one movie a day though. My guess is it works on a similar basis to gym memberships, where they rely on people signing up and then not using it. That's probably a thing for Netflix itself, in fact. I have a Netflix subscription and haven't watched anything on it in like 6 months.

That's an interesting price. I don't go to near enough movies now to make it worth it. If I had that $10/month thing I might make myself go to some extra movies to try to get my money's worth and end up getting mad at movies overall.

Yea this sounded like some sick value until I realized going to the movies was a 1-2× a year thing now.

When I was new to 2+2 this was my first avatar



I never heard anything from any mods, at least 5 had seen it from Beginners and elsewhere, and no one seemed to have a problem with it. That was until I ran into Dids. He never said anything to me directly, he just removed the avatar. I thought something had gone wrong so I put it back in. He removed it again, and this time sent me a PM telling me I was getting banned if I put it up again.

That was my first excursion into OOT.
