you're making prop bets with people for year long bans from the thread

it would be one thing if you were making these bets with horrible posters a la PITTM, but your making them with people who actually make the thread enjoyable.

its not just the mod that doesn't want these bets to happen, a significant number of posters that post in it dont want it to happen either.

Too bad. If someone makes a bet that they won't post for a specified amount of time and loses, they should be expected to honor the bet, regardless of what everyone else thinks. If everyone was scared of the consequences should a certain poster lose, they should have tried to talk that poster out of the bet in the first place. Once the bet is made, that's that, regardless of what everyone else thinks.

Now, Seth shouldn't be responsible for enforcing it (just as he's not responsible for making a poster pay for a $50 bet). It's ok to update the FAQ to discourage those kinds of bets. But that's the extent of it imo.

Then offers 20k bet to save face, fails with all non stillborns. Ceire takes bet to bailout other guy, which sucks because I didn't really wanna take him out. But some people need others to fight their battles for them.

he did not like wagering for posting rights as he gains nothing from that, but maybe he was turned on by winning $20k.

Basically nothing. I look at it maybe once a month. Other than one LC thread, the rest is meh.
