No. You'll hear very stupid reasoning about people in cities determining the winner but that's dumb as are they.

Important state closing times (all times Eastern)
7: Virginia
7:30: Ohio, North Carolina
8: Florida, New Hampshire
9: Colorado, Wisconsin
10: Iowa, Nevada

I think the first sign will be at 7:30. Virginia getting called early for Obama would be big, but I think it'll take a while even if he wins. North Carolina leans Romney more than those other states. If it's not called early that's a bad sign for him. If being called early isnt as bad a sign for Obama but means we're probably in for a pretty long night. If it's somehow called for Obama early, then Ohio probably would be as well, but in any case it's pretty much over.

That may be, but all the people who know how to use the information have Obama likely over 300 electoral votes, 332 the most likely single scenario. There's a strong incentive for pundits, no matter how well informed, to argue that it'll be close.

It's not a lock, but evidence points toward it being over at a reasonable hour this evening.

I'd be very surprised if he's right about all of Colorado, Virginia, and Florida going Obama. If he is, Obama is going to win with over 310 electoral votes, which I think would be pretty surprising to most people.
He has Florida as 50.3% Obama, so I don't think you can call him right/wrong either way on that.

Nope. Massively tilting that we use such an inferior and archaic system when there really isn't any justification any more. The electoral college aspect of it is stupid and the weighting of the states by Congressmen instead of just population is stupid.

Uhhh congressmen are appropriated by population.

*unless you mean everyone getting base 3 votes is dumb, in which case, yeah.

Representatives are appropriated by population. Each state gets two senators, and to compound the issue, each state gets a minimum of three votes/congressmen and they don't ever increase the total number, which means Wyoming and Alaska's representative / electoral votes represent a hell of a lot fewer people than those from New York or California and thus small states and their elected representatives have a disproportionately high level of influence.

not sure about the asking. is illegal to give it. edit: half second more thought would lead me to believe it is likely illegal to ask as well.
