Halo 2 and halo 3 multi-player were GOAT. Think I had over 10k multi-player games in college with friends

Halo 2 was def elite. That warthog with the gauss cannon was super OP. My buddy used to drive and I'd shoot, would go like 70-0 with multiple Killtaculars and Killtrocities or whatever they would call it when you killed like 6 people in immediate succession.

I remember senior year of HS we thought we were amazing cause we got a high online rating and would slaughter all our friends so we went to some LAN tourney in NYC and got absolutely sonned by a couple 13 year olds in the second round. Was an absolute blowout and hilarious, even at the time.

You could play Halo 1 online as well. The best way in college to know you were going to slaughter someone at Halo 1 or 2 was if they did not know that.

So I haven't used air bnb before but am looking for stuff in the coming months. In Asheville in particular. Any recommendations in regards best places to stay? Assume uber is used a fair bit there so everything is relative but walking distance would be awesome. W Asheville closeish?

I was a big fan of "the noob combo" in halo 2: plasma pistol + battle rifle.

The plasma pistol was so OP they had to change it for Halo 3. It homed in and instantly removed all shields and overshield, combined with the BR for a quick headshot it was an instant kill

The amount of rage it induced online was quite hilarious.

The noob combo was hilarious.

I remember the legend that in a Halo 2 competitive match on the small map with the 2 bases and the rock bridge with the rocket launcher on top, orge1 and ogre2 were down to the final kill and their teammates shields were down, someone tosses a grenade at the teammates and one of the brothers sniped it out of the air and then got the final kill for the win. Not sure if it actually happened but I was told that story on multiple occassions, the legend of ogre1 and ogre2 being the best players was pretty well known I think.

I used to know mearly every super bounce in the game and could pull off some flawlessly. Getting a sniper and then bouncing out of the map was hilarious.

I'm staying in an Airbnb in west Asheville this weekend, will let you know how it goes. Renting a car though.

Please do. Seems like a 5 min uber to downtown. Will I have any trouble booking a place if this is my first airbnb?

I never understood how people could aim in games like Halo with a controller. Do you actually prefer it over playing with a mouse/keyboard?

well it's the same for everyone and controller provides more room to be better than other people. point and click is easy

Played a bit against Ogre 1/2 on XBC during the Halo 1 days. Only matched with them a few times on Live for Halo 2 because the pool of pros was way deeper and easier to access and I wasn't good enough for that ****. They were insanely ****ing good and the only shot you had was if you were hosting and still got lucky.

Halo 1 was so great though. Basically anything could be blasted to you via grenade from almost anywhere if you took the time to figure it out (or were in the right forums), every item was on a timer which drove action to map points throughout the game, starting with the pistol was perfect because it gives you a shot in every scenario while being the absolute best in only a few, etc. Learning curve to be elite was definitely steeper, but I get why some things got nerfed in Halo 2 for the Live release. Other than the Sword, which remains dumb as ****.

I have a pretty long beard and didn't shave for last interview. Didn't get job.

Previously legit went like 20/20 on professional job interviews with no beard.

Whatever that's worth

if you don't have a drink in the morning sometimes then you're missing out.

On a related note, I am considering taking next Friday off to do nothing but drink and watch basketball. The Irish Pub by me opens at 8 am for St. Patrick's Day and then I could hop back and forth between that and several sports bars on the same block throughout the day during March Madness.

The flip side is that I will get paid to watch basketball at work if I don't take the vacation day. What's my play here?

Obligatory, just shave one side.

I am currently rocking a neat beard but I am convinced that having a beard is a negative in job interviews with anyone older than 40. The act of implicit and minor rebellion that is inherent in having a beard diminishes their opinion of your professionalism. I believe this to be true even if they themselves have a beard - they feel they have earned that right while you have not, because if you HAD, you would not be in an inferior position asking them for a job.

So I think shaving it off will to some probably tiny degree increase your odds.

That is not true if shaving it off will leave some kind of ridiculous tan line disaster.
