Lots of reading to catch up on the FACK today.
I can't even remember the last novel I actually read, mainly just had a huge backlog of neurology and rehab books to get through. Plus some "persevering through adversity" bull**** by weakling losers like Marcus Aurelius (emo).
As such, I recommend
Softwired as the best I've seen at explaining to non-idiot laypersons how we currently understand the brain works, and especially for how it applies to *normals* and the aging (becoming stupid) process. Brain science has been completely overhauled in the last decade, and this guy was one of the main revolutionaries and does want revenge on the community that branded him a witch for a few decades for believing in neuroplasticity.
Sadly, he does not describe the benefits of *reading faster* but that would probably solve all of your complaints about books.
