Well I've done my part promoting yet another site that slaps "-ist" on the end of a word and tosses out hot take lists.

This list is straight trash.

First of all, the Father's Office burger is good, but I can give you 5 or 6 better burgers just in Los Angeles that I have actually had without trying to find the GOAT burger. In fact, I met Monte at Father's Office because it was near his hotel on a business trip, and explicitly stated that it was "good but not amazing." And it is a good burger! But #27 in the nation is lol - I live here and can go wherever I want and I only ever go there if a bunch of people want to try it and haven't, or if it's convenient. I would never detour for even a minute of my life just to satisfy a hankering for that perfectly good but not special burger. That ranking is an INDICTMENT of the whole list.

Pie 'N' Burger in Pasadena, on the other hand, is DOPE, and probably deserves its ranking. But if that's true, then it is IMPOSSIBLE that either of THE APPLE PAN or THE GOLDEN STATE are not tied with it at #20, because they're LITERALLY the same delicious burger. They're so indistinguishably good and similar that Eater has them all within 5 spots of each other just in the list of 22 best burgers in LA.

But wait, you might say, that Eater article has Father's Office as BETTER than Pie 'N' Burger and Golden State and Apple Pan, so why would you cite THAT when you already said Father's Office is worse?

Here's your answer: the Eater list took it's world-class stupidity in ranking Father's Office #6, and then PROVED Father's Office is possibly TRASH when it ranked FATBURGER, which is ****ing garbage, #5, one spot higher.

So basically, Father's Office isn't even better than Fatburger as far as Eater is concerned, but at least the other good places exist, while the thrillist rankings claim that Father's Office is LA's second-best burger, which is literally impossible because it's objectively worse than 3 similar places anyway.

And that's not even counting actual Los Angeles potential GOATs like Cassell's (#58) or Plan Check (unranked) or a real sleeper, THE SAN FRANCISCO SALOON IN LOS ANGELES (unranked).

List is TRASH.

I haven't been there for a long time but about 10 years ago I used to go there fairly often. Yeah, it's really good, but I was baffled to see it NUMBER ONE IN 'MERICA YEEHAW!

Love the heart here Hoya. I'm staying down the road from Cassell's when I go to LA in two weeks, will make sure I return to the FAQ with a verdict.

Moving really makes you realize what a waste everything is. Literally getting rid of over 50% of my possessions and wish I was getting rid of more. Basically lol buying anything but necessities.
