small businesses I would also pay debit because the businesses are not charged outrageous fees like they do with credit charges. If you own a small business, every little bit counts, trust me.

My last haircut was $6 in a tiny stall in a Rio central city daily flea market. On a per hair basis was quite pricey.

I would say it's true that the majority of shops don't take cards. Mine doesn't. If you go to a large operation and/or super upscale place in a major city, probably almost all of those take cards. Regular neighborhood shops, no.

I get free hair cuts for life as part of a deal I made with my drug addicted barber when I gave him a bunch of pills years back. Surprised he's continued to honor it this long tbh but I have known him since we were kids.
