g-bebe, I'd like to see if there's a way to get it on the sidebar but I doubt it. Economics in the Politics (lol) forum seems to get a fair amount of traffic despite the extra click.

if subforums were able to be applied to the sidebar, i'd have no problem with the change. or even make the forums that have subforums expandable, so the subforums can be layered but still be seen if desired. maybe i use the sidebar more than most, i dunno.

fwiw I wasn't involved in the decision except that I didn't have a problem with it, but I still never get the click complaints. Most other forums don't have such an extensive side menu at all. So with that and the jump menu at the bottom, which does contain subs, it never seems all that clicky to me. Using forum bookmarks can be even faster too.

I mean, many of you guys have used ebay and amazon at one point or another, yeah?

I'm not a fan of the sub-forums because I usually just browse the first few pages of SE to see threads I'm interested in rather than seeking out specific threads. It's not terrible I just think the other way is better.

Props to Clark or Tuq or whoever came up with this idea and actually put it into play. I love it. I think its a great idea. Everything is more organized, and Im ok with making the extra click if I wanna see troll filled mega threads for the Sox and Yanks!

Or wanna browse through the fantastic Fantasy Sports forum!

Sooo much easier to navigate through SE now. Fantasy Sports, great idea! Team Threads, great idea! Aside from wasting a massive mili-second of my life making the extra click, I think Im going to be ok.

Part of why we timed it like this was that it would give us all time to get used to it before the onslaught of fantasy football and NFL team threads, which will obviously be overlapping with the stretch run in MLB. Hopefully it works. If not, we can always go back.

For now I think main forum is ok. They seem to get a decent amount of casual traffic, plus for the interest threads they really need to be on main page. We can see how it goes.
