Holy ****!

A house not more than 2 miles from me just blew the **** up. Probably gas explosion. I felt the blast like a car had run into my house.

Unlikely (but not impossible). Went out driving with a couple of friends trying to get close, smelled like a massive gas leak.

Two homes leveled, which means two families likely dead. Fourteen homes nearby damaged.

Two houses leveled. One house was for sale and empty, the other housed a woman, her boyfriend, and several kids...all but the boyfriend were out of town.

Only one fatality out of that mess is amazing.

Thanksgiving probably #1 when you factor in 2 days off.

We get the auto two days off over here for Christmas, plus New Year's Day aswell. Usually three holiday days can secure the full 10 day justice parade.

But I'd imagine that if I was American and was granted a whole half day a year in annual leave (and delighted to get it), a holiday with two days off would top my powerrankings irrespective of anything else surrounding it.

Christmas is tough because it is only one day for us and it can fall in the middle of the week. So this year Christmas is on a Tuesday, so you'd have to come in Monday and then come back in Wednesday. Which blows so I'm taking the week off.

Thanksgiving is auto 4 day weekend every year + great food + football +liquor. Plus you don't have to go shopping and try and find gifts.

New Years is pretty nice depending on what day it falls on. This year New Year's day is on a Tuesday, so that's pretty easy to make a four-day weekend and you don't have to go visit family.

eta: Nothing against my family, it's just a pain in the ass to load up the wife and kid and drive ~2.5 hours to visit. In before "I have to drive 14 hours both ways uphill."

i played caribbean stud for first time last night. that's a fun game. then played 1/2 NL because i'm a high roller. got it all in with my JsJx on an all low spade flop. my opponent had AsAx. spiked a non spade jack lolololololololololol. then my buddy wanted to play craps. i have never been so confused in my life.

the more i think about it, the greatness of christmas is actually related to age. Its so great when youre in school because winter break is usually a month long. Also, when youre younger, youre usually getting more gifts than giving, which is nice. Once youre done with school and officially an adult in the real world, some of the great aspects seem nullified.
