Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

The South American U17 Championships started on the weekend so don't miss this chance to get an early look at the next generation of great South American talent. Of course I have no idea who 99% of the players are but I did recognise a couple interesting names in Brazil's team, the first being Lucas Piazon who has been linked with Juventus and Chelsea and the other was Andrigo who has been linked with Man Utd. I'm downloading Brazil's first match now and will be sure to keep you all posted with extensive scouting reports that I know you are all dying to read.

No Iturbe. He's playing in the Copa Libertadores with Cerro Porteño.

Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

I'd put Alves, Sandro and Nilmar or L.Fabiano for Hulk(not yet sold on him) in that lineup

Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

What could be really sick is the brazilian team for the olympic games next year. Just off the top of my head.

-------------------Pato--------------------------
----Neymar------Ganso------P.Coutinho------
--------Sandro----------Hernanes--------------
--Fabio---Silva-------Lucio-----Rafael-
-------------------Neto-------------------------

Of course there's the issue of the clubs having to release the players because it's not an official FIFA competition but there are lot of back-up players as well

Lucas(Sao Paulo) - I'd actually prob. find a place for him on the starting XI because he's playing awesome
Douglas Costa(Shaktar)

I know I'm forgetting a lot of players...

Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

First impressions of Andrigo and Lucas Piazon.

Andrigo: played on the right wing but drifted in centrally a lot, was active with his off the ball movement and presented well for the ball but Brazil seemed to play mostly down the left and he wasn't involved that much, especially in the first half. In the second half he got into the game more and put in two very good crosses from the right as well as putting in a few good free kicks and corners. Rarely tracked back but he did win a few challenges, given his small size it seems unlikely he will ever be much of a factor in the defensive phase of the game. Decent pace.

Lucas Piazon: I can see why they call him the new Kaka. He's a tall, skilled AM from the Sao Paulo academy and he even kind of looks like Kaka. Based on this match he seems like the kind of AM who is more likely to score himself then set up chances for others. He scored Brazil's third goal with a strong header. He had two almost identical chances where he timed his run perfectly and was through on goal with the keeper, the first one he really should have squared the ball to Andrigo who would have had a tap in but instead took a shot straight at the keeper, the second one I think he shot just wide but I'm struggling to remember the exact situation. He also had at least one more good chance in a penalty area scramble but couldn't guide the ball past the keeper.

Brazil's striker Pedro Paulo (the number 11 ashley mentioned) was also good, scored two goals and was very active with good movement everywhere in the attacking third.

Their next match is against Chile in a few days.

Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

I made that team with u23 players + 3 overs as thats the rule for the olympics.
Anderson is 23 now so he could only go as one of the overs

But tbh he is not that highly rated in Brazil , rarely called for the NT etc

Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

just tuned in to catch the 2-1 goal.

atmosphere sounds fantastic.

Elano shooting from 35+ yards cannot be the best option.

Last edited by martymc1; 03-16-2011 at 09:40 PM. Reason: 3-1 now.

Re: Random soccer/football discussion thread

Santos getting battered.

spectacular bicycle kick off the bar.

--

oops me, Neymar round the keeper as if he wasn't there, 3-2 Colo Colo now.

--

Neymar is a bit crazy, basically just attacked two Colo Colo players and could easily have been sent off in the space of last 5 minutes.
