I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was also being pushed out the door. Everton need the cash big time.

What does this mean for Milner then? I'd love him back at Villa. When played in centre midfield he is top class.

I actually think this is a good transfer for all involved;

Rodwell - decent pay increase and will get chances at city given they have a 50+ game season. still young enough if it doesn't work out he will be moving somewhere else when he is 24-5

City - sign a decent young English player at reasonable price. If he has better luck with injuries I think he will be a very good player.

Everton - good money for a player who probably wouldn't get in the first XI, has injury issues and suffered dip in form. Plus we have a better youngster in the same position in Ross Barkley.

good quote from Moyes "I sold him...not the board...me, I sold him. We've outlaid on pienaar and Naismith, would like a couple of others , probably loans if I'm honest, ....but we wish him well"

also rumours of a decent prem centre mid on the move so we may get him as Rodwell's replacement

It depends how you mean. in terms of pt expectation very far. In terms of expected table finish...we are clearly 5th favorite and Everton might be 7/8.

explain? you're kinda saying he's too important to Everton but not good enough for City?

I don't quite see him like that.

He's not a superstar for Everton but he'll probably slot in as a good role player for City, albeit quite injury prone.

These are the caliber of players that small clubs should always sell.

I mean for City and Rodwell himself.

This is a fantastic deal for Everton.

And for Rodwell. He'l be on ~80-100k a week and if it doesnt work out he'l prob end at a club~Everton on loan.

Re: Soccer - 2012 Summer Transfer Window

Rodwell is still young with a lot of upside, maybe as a centreback, where it looks like Mancini will be playing 3 at the back quite a bit this season, if he doesn't improve enough technically and mentally (and it's been slow going) to become a good midfielder on a quality team.

Barry won't last forever either and I believe they've been actively shopping Nigel de Jong this transfer window (Frank Arnesen has said they offered him). That could purely be for wage-bill reasons (making room for something they want more), so it would interesting to know what Rodwell will be on.

Haha yeah.

£15m seems to be the number floating around, that's an incredible deal for Everton. I just don't see him being a huge loss, they have had to deal with his injuries every year so they are well prepared for life without him.

I wonder if Moyes will get the money to spend.
