Seems like that's kinda changing though. Wiki says that 6 of the 10 highest fees paid for a gk have been in the last two years. De Gea and Courtois are the only ones near his age and most of the others are 26.

and you don't have to play him in the pl straight away.

I'm not convinced. I think he did the smart thing and cashed in on being part of a pretty strong team and was slightly overvalued.
I mean he did look really brilliant at times and it's pretty hard to get playing time at RM especially with his bad luck regarding injuries+he's young. He could still turn out to be pretty elite but he desperately needs playing time which I doubt he'll get at RM any time soon.

I dunno how much he makes now but I feel not many teams will offer him that which is why he doesn't want to leave.

Also...Bayern supposedly not ruling out paying 40 million for Martinez.

I'd at least buy him and loan him out, either straight back to Birmingham or to someone like Southampton (who've been linked to him). Much like we've done with Courtois.

I personally think he's good enough for the Premiership now but there is a stigma about putting young keepers straight in at the deep end. (although that is slowly correcting itself)

Done.

Hope he does well, showed the odd glimpse during pre season but looked anxious at times. This should benefit him.

The thing is, expensive for a keeper is still like 12-15m. So, while there have been higher fees lately, they are still less than outfield players.

Well, if you are loaning him out then you still need to buy another keeper to replace friedel. Either that or he sits on the bench and that is the worst thing for him right now

Loaning would be the best thing, but like I noted above spurs would still need some sort of replacement for friedel.

While I don't think he's prem ready right now, it's even tougher if he was starting for spurs where every result is important. They need/want to get back into the CL and starting someone like butland will result in lost points they can't really afford to lose

Sign Julio Cesar and Butland. Cesar would be a lot cheaper than Stekelenburg as Inter have already signed his replacement and he's 3/4 years older.

Cesar 3 year deal, Butland a 5 year deal. Loan Butland to a lower Premiership side this season and probably the same the season after, then reevaluate.

Cesar + Butland may ony cost like £5m more than Stekelenburg.

Stekelenburg is the better goalkeeper though

Only watched pre-season on livescore.com so couldn't comment. Wouldn't surprise me. Young guys are generally over keen to impress
