10-6 you were very close. Never expected that.

As the great Steve D says - big difference between 11-5 and 10-6.

Magnificent 143 from Selby, one of the best breaks I have seen.

Just got back in and looked at the frame scores - Selby looks in great form. He just seems to have gotten steadily better each year. From memory, he wasn't regarded as a big talent when he first started to break though.

Ronnie started out looking kind of imperious here. COYROS.

Ronnie on 64, 7 reds remaining...

When he jokingly went for the blue that was pretty amusing.

146, good effort.

Ronnie GOAT

146

Even managed to cheekily pretend to line up a blue before switching to an obvious black to get the crowd involved.

That Ding miss was stupidly unlucky on his separation of the reds in the 22nd frame

RIP Ronnie.

I guess I'm rooting for Selby now?

Ronnie out =

Selby probably worth putting your house on at this point if he can beat Fu who has had a ridiculous year 13-3.

It's still baffling how he didn't get a lifetime ban, given there was clear evidence of him agreeing to fix matches yet Stephen Lee got a 13 year ban with no evidence apart from a few suspicious betting patterns.

IIRC it was because they said they couldn't put a exact specific game on which Higgins was going to fix, ridiculous.

I also think it was because he was #1 at the time and it would have basically destroyed the sport if he got a life time ban.

Totally agree, and it really irks me. It wasn't a unanimous verdict I think but seems incredibly naive to let him off based on his explanation. If I was ever in the position he claimed to be, I'd let the snooker authorities know as soon as possible to cover myself, plus I seem to recall he went to a second meeting with the potential fixers.

FWIW though (re Lee), betting circumstantial evidence can be very strong - in that a "natural" explanation can be practically zero percent likely. Ebdon is another who has smoke around him.

I used to know a betting shop manager and he told me about a few things that go on in snooker. They know who the bend players are.

fwiw i read the stephen lee judgement and appeal and he was bang to rights

cant remember specifics but the gist of it was the bookies would get 10x the usual volume on exact frame betting on a range of outcomes, eg 10-3, 10-4 and 10-5. he'd go lose the match 10-4 and then one day later the bloke who put the bets on would xfer exactly half of the money that had been won on those wagers into lee's wife's bank account. amateur hour

dont have an informed comment on higgins, dont really know anything about it other than having seen the vid. my guess is that he got off super light but idk

Will anyone even watch this now that Ronnie is out? Total yawnfest from here. Obviously Selby just bores his opponents into submission for another title.

Just half of China watching.

Wouldn't have let Higgins back in, can't stand to watch him now. Was once great. Bastard.

I wouldn't mind Ding winning. Shame he's not a little more expressive, but he can play like a genius and bangs in loads of centuries.

I find Hawkins hard to root for...Selby seems decent enough but no X-factor...so GO DING!
