Well now that A-Rod is off the schneid (sp? lol), he has to move on to the next big star who "hasn't won a ring"

I wasn't debating that, obv. I just think it's silly to think that if Lebron had won a championship last year they would have called a foul on the bulls.

skip purposely says thing for effect.

he knows ohio/cleveland fans are sensitive so he says bad things about LeBron James and talked about how ohio st stole the national championship in 2002 for about 5 years because he knew it got him attention/got people upset.

actually, sportsnation is a pretty good show. the first time i watched it i was like "wow, worst freaking show ever, how could ESPN possibly run this." but after you watch it a few times it gets better. its different anyway. much better than Around the Horn. If that show could last as long as it has Sportsnation could last awhile.

Some friends and I discussed this sort of thing this weekend. These sports show guys need conflict or controversy to get people to listen.

It used to be sports media was simply fact based info: Here are the scores, here are the injuries, here is the schedule

it has now mostly morphed into opinion based discussion: "Is Lebron the greatest ever?" "Do Tony Romo and T.O, get along?" "What does Brett Farve think about at night?" etc.

For every "facts and info" segment on sportscenter there are 2 segments where you see guys giving their opinions on random crap. Then you have entire shows dedicated to opinion.

And with opinions you need conflict. If everyone on the show agreed all the time it loses the effect.

Everything is also stated in absolutes. "There is 100% NO WAY this team will win" or other such over the top hyperbole.

Sports journalism is dead and taking anything any one of those guys has to say the least bit seriously is like taking what the wrestlers say on WWF seriously.

This is why I prefer ESPN news over ESPN most of the time.

QFT

Imagine pardon the interruption if they Mike and Tony agreed on all the issues... doubtlessly they'll give false opinions and sides of the argument so the TV program is more interesting... Skip Bayless is just another pundit who lives and dies under the Nielsen rating just like everyone else

I'd rather have Rodgers in the 4th quarter (and also in 1-3)

Bold prediction: He takes Eminem over Jay-Z, mentiones great white rapper at least once. DUCY he likes Tebow?

id rather have rodgers too
but bayless was saying TEBOW would be a winner in the nfl for years
and he's right about the heat
and he was right about jayz in that argument, he got killed on his own song

That whole conversation was tilting. He lost all credibility when he said he loves Nelly and Weezy.

Haven't Lil Wayne and Nelly been on 1st and 10 before debating with Skip? Gotta be why he's praising them over Eminem.
