I also think that was the point Jalen was trying to make. Jalen has put in the decades of work to get to the professional level and he knows what it takes to get there, whereas Skip watched basketball on the sidelines in high school, so his opinion is limited by his own experiences.
being good at analysis of the sport > having played the sport (not that skip is good, but i'm talking about your point in general). if you're good at analysis AND have played the sport at a high level, then yes that experience gives you an edge and makes you capable of valuable insight. but you don't usually find both
