Also, to be clear, I still think it was an excellent show and have watched every non finale episode at least 3 times.

Just think it coulda been a lot better.

You could have made it better by not being such a nit. I'd say the problem is with you bro. Do some yoga or something.

Damn, Chill gets so uppity when someone isn't completely satisfied with something he loves. Even if you really like the product as a whole.

I'm just practicing my trolling for the OOTTV TD thread.

The nits need a reckoning.

Somehow I feel disappointed while simultaneously wanting to laughs at the reddit idiots that analyzed the freaking father in law scene.

Ya, ya, I get this is supposed to be a character examination, I just expected more from the actual plot.

edit: And as stated, I'm willing to admit the problem is with my expectations.
I think the problem was that your were expecting some big breakthrough in the investigation, them deciding to investigate the green house painter is not some major "aha" moment, it's just another clue they decided to follow which happened to work out.

Yeah would be pretty boring if they showed the dozens of other theories that they investigated that amounted to nothing.

Should have made it 20 episodes and shown a few hours of them looking through files.

Marty clearly has a knack for paperwork.

He's like a less ******ed version of Prez.

It's not like we got information elsewhere in the episode that Cohle and Hart had been working around the clock for a month on the case before they had their breakthrough.

That's why the ending sucked. Work around the clock while ignoring the fact that they already know scarface is a Childress, until they see a stupid ass green paint lead which tells them.. scarface is a Childress.

nath, have you entirely abandoned the OOTV thread? It's getting pretty bleak in there.

They needed to find a location. There was no record of Billy Childress having a son, which means Errol Childress didn't exist on paper. They had no other way to locate him.

Not entirely, but I'm getting there. I'm really not interested in talking to people who think it sucked because they didn't get the types of resolutions they wanted.

Spoiler:
come to think of it im pretty sure im fine with the ending. the only thing that really 'bothered' me is that it didn't seem necessary is the whole shooting scene and ridiculous stab wounds, thought it could have just gone more quietly.

They could have found history of a business called Childress and sons if they had tax records.

Shortly after the news spread that President Obama requested advance copies of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” headlines everywhere speculated if the main man in charge would get his wish.

It turns out, he did.

When asked by Vanity Fair if the president got a sneak peak of the “Game of Thrones” season premiere, co-creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss jointly replied, “One perk of being the most powerful man in the world: yes, you get to see episodes early.”
dat abuse of power

For me the show was great but the final chapter didn't live up to the torrid fury the rest of the season had set. Maybe there is no way to end a show like that in a satisfactory way.

Yeah. Would have actually been cool to see them pull up the dead sheriff's business and go to the house to investigate not knowing it was Carcosa and then dealing with that. Don't see why it would bother anyone that they went

Green House->Old Lady->Tax Records

instead of

Interrogate guy on boat to get Childress name->Tax Records

That's like a nit beyond nitting to care about that.

There are a lot of people named Childress in Louisiana. And they didn't really know it was a Childress, just that it was someone in the Tuttle extended family, which the Childresses were.

Spoiler:
Quote:
24. Main villain actually some kind of supermonster with gigantism who can only be stopped with a bullet to the skull

25. Heroes both survive what would normally be EXTREMELY fatal injuries, i.e. hatchet wound to the aorta

26. One cop about to get killed by the bad guy is rescued at the last possible second by the other cop, who you thought was TOTALLY incapacitated up until that moment

27. Seemingly dying cop is cradled by other wounded cop (who, despite having a hatchet wound to the aorta, is apparently the less injured one)

28. But they both live!

29. Backup support (cops, firemen, people in helicopters and ****) appears just as the plot has conveniently wrapped up
