The meth made them too shaky to shoot straight. Yeah that was pretty ridiculous and unbelievable. Decent episode until this.

or hank following walt at that kind of speed without it being extremely obvious.

To be honest the part that I disliked the most was Hank's phone call to Marie, the whole little speech ending with I love you, pretty ****ing obvious they were setting up for todd's uncle to arrive.

They didn't show it but I bet Hank rebugged Walt's car

"It's gonna be a while before I get home"

setting up for Hank's death imo. but who knows with this show. I'm sure he'll get shot and run over but survive and walk a month later

I'm sure people will call me a nit or something because OMG BB GOAT or w.e but it's a serious flaw. 12 year old pot dealers know not to talk on the phone but Walt has no problem leaving incriminating voicemails and openly confessing to murders. yeahok.gif

it's just hard for me to enjoy the plots of this show that can't get there with out ******ed contrivances. This was one of those.
Whoa, there's a ton of evidence Walt doesn't think 5 steps ahead. In fact, all of his best plans have generally come when he's been backed into a corner because he didn't think through the consequences of his action.

I have a friend who had the same issues with the episode, but I thought Walt's behavior was plausible. His hubris has blinded him again: He still thinks he understands and controls Jesse well enough that he can talk him down, and also that Jesse won't go to the cops. So he doesn't even think the phone is being tapped. Jesse is totally right, too, that making Walt think his money is in danger is the one thing that is going to cause him to panic and not think through what he's doing.

Yeah, the ending was pretty bad. Professional killers, rested assault rifles with time to aim the first shots = two dead cops. I know that series do this all the time but this was the first completely stupid firefight for BB. Obviously this isn't realism and as a viewer you have to play along but it made me grin a bit.

I think the phone call wasn't that bad. Jesse has given dead threats, seemed irrational and incapable of planning, Walter loves his money, it was completely plausible that Walter let his guard down and did not think all options trough.

Another thing about Breaking Bad that tilts me is the flash-forwards that the writers do, which they seem to think are really intelligent and creative, but I find to be a lazy show-offy storytelling device that actually ruins a lot of the dramatic tension in the show. The end of the last episode was a good example: Walt gets cornered in the desert and arrested, but because we've seen him a year in the future, we know that he's not ending up in jail, and because of the obvious foreshadowing with Todd's crew it was really easy to see where that episode was going.

I dunno, this could be a subjective thing. I personally don't really like knowing anything about what's going to happen on that kind of show.

My rationalization for the unrealistic ending was that it was highlighting how helpless Walt is during this situation.

I've felt BB crossed into the unbelievable long ago tho.

Yes obviously but it's usually original and smart about it. There was nothing good in that firefight. Maybe there's a good twist in the next episode.

flash-forwards easily the worst part of BB writing iyam - but it's all anchoring. otherwise you'd be like 'this is total horse [censored]'. i mean walt getting out of this is already horse [censored], imagine how he ends up getting the ricin.

He ordered the hit on Jesse via cell phone by name, when he wasn't in nearly enough of a time crunch to warrant such carelessness.

When you're him, you operate as if your phone is tapped. Period.

If Jesse calls and you truly feel your entire fortune is at risk then of course I can understand letting it fly.

I'm sorry but if you call someone involved with a gang of Nazi's to order a hit, on your cell phone, by name...well, that's pretty damn stupid.

I see your point, but Walt's phone wasn't tapped. He only got caught because Jesse was cooperating with Hank, something Walt thought he would never do. I can let it slide by telling myself that Walt feels like he knows the score on where Hank's investigation is now and that Hank doesn't have the capability to record his phone calls at this juncture.

Also, Walt thinks he's pretty immune to Hank right now because of the confession tape.
SETV >>>> OOTV: WOAT >>>> GOT Quote

But he doesn't know who might be listening in on the person he's calling so those still don't really work as reasonable explanations.

I mean it's not a huge deal, just annoying enough to talk about I suppose.

Never complained about breaking bad before but thought some of the events of the previous episode were unforgivable. I won't bother word bombing my complaints as plenty has already been covered itt.

I had to put the Shield on straight after to remove that bad feeling about BB. Halfway through season 5 and The Shield has now overtaken BB in my TV Show Power Rankings.

Doubt he would be immune to confessing multiple murders and also ordering another all on the phone. It's almost as ridiculous that his phone wasn't immediately tapped as soon as Hank even started to sniff him as a suspect. Even small police departments have equipment that can pull cell phone numbers from a house by just driving by it.

and how did they get it there?

more likely than not it was them using the signal of his phone to triangulate where he was.

i was almost hoping that jesse during the conversation would **** up somehow. 'oh 10gs burned, look it at all burning green' walt screams and realizes money doesn't burn green it burns orange, knowing that jesse is now with hank.

watched first 4 episodes of Breaking Bad season 1 last night for the first time. It was good, but not "I need to know what happens next good" which some other shows are. How does the beginning of season 1 compare to the rest of the show in terms of quality? Does it get more or less entertaining from here?

Season 1 is by far the worst, followed by season 2. Season 3 on is a wonderful, wild ride

I'm definitely in the minority of BB fans, but I think season 1 kinda sucks. The show gets better and better each season through season 4 at least, with 5 yet to be determined.

Just started watching last season. Raffi in that swimming pool episode was so damn funny. I was losing it.
