Im meh on the GoT finale. Expected a lot more after learning about the Emmy nomination stuff. Not looking forward to Mountain meets Nazi scientist = supersoldier, tree stuff and the entire Bran storyline are just meh. Dannyland seems like JRRM's take on slavery in the US. That old slave dude could play for Duke.

This. Unless the wall stretches literally all the way around the planet then obv there's a way around it. And we already knew Stannis had ships, plus we knew he'd been to Citi of Bravos to get a payday loan to raise an army so it's not like that came completely from nowhere. Do we really need to see the minutiae behind the logistics of how they got there?

There's a lot to complain about this ep but that bit is the least of it.

Agree with whomever said the skeletons were poorly done, Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland looks more realistic.

I guess everyone's in agreement that Stannis will team up with the Wildlings and try to roflstomp his way onto the throne? Dunno how the gods work but I'd be kind of worried that the firelady could be a turncoat once the dragons arrive (fire and all). Lannister head dead enough for them to finally cross over the damn ocean?

Firelady look towards Snow def had "I know you're a key dude" written all over it. His interaction with the blind dude was also odd. I have a feeling he's involved somehow/knows stuff.

At least the Wildlings weren't total idiots and actually send some guys over the wall at other places. Good.

Could "Bran will fly" mean he might warg into one of the dragons eventually? With the not so hidden foreshadowing so far I feel like the odds have to be good. It feels like he serves no purpose so far so there has to be a buildup for something. Control of dragon probably turns the huge battle once Danny&friends arrive...but then again I don't even see how the Starks would want to get involved.

I have no clue what Arya is up to, what could happen to Tyrion, what will happen in KL now that Tywin is dead or what'll happen in the LF storyline. We were kind of left hanging on a "let's go" there.

/rants and speculation

I like Brann's story. Feels the most magic done right storyline. Other dude dying was sad but not huge. I have no idea where his storyline is going but I like it.

Stannis owned those wildlings. Jon's storyline has always been great to me. All of the North's storyline. Some of you ****s probably have never seen snow.

I figured Stannis just used the tunnels and gates or w.e to get through the wall.

Anyway, lol got.

Losing Tywin and The Hound and replacing them with fireball throwing babies and skeleton monsters. Awesome tradeoff.

The previews spoiling the Arya stuff was so bad.

mildly disappointed in this episode. They really aren't handling some of the storylines very well - they seem very hit or miss in how well they do things. Bran and Dany are suffering because they aren't portraying them well, while other storylines (everything lannister, arya/hound) are GOATing all over the place.

My concern going forward is how the magic elements are going to be balanced with the throne power struggle stuff. I mean, if we get to the end of the show and its just Bran & the Children vs. Dany vs. White Walkers vs. Lord of Darkness etc..., with everyone else left in the dust then WTF was the point.

Stannis has been the most underappreciated character throughout the show. Glad he might get his due.

Jon/Stannis/Mance is one of two interesting storylines left in the show with the other being where are Tyrion/Varys going.

Dany Dragons.

Brute military force.

Information.

Children magic.

Show is great cause of everything you said.

dany storyline remains painfully slow and repetitive. it's been said before but her entire season 3 "arch" could've been fit into one or two episodes very easily. this is especially disappointing because i had very high hopes for her coming into the season. dragons being locked up sucks but it's important to note that there's still one rogue dragon who will almost certainly be making an appearance, probably conveniently "tamed" to an extent that dany will just roll with going forward.

not sure what to make of the bran stuff yet. to the surprise of noone, his "climax" involved more of nothing exciting. nice to see more magic/skeletons getting involved though.

jon/stannis/mance/melisandre is -100000 to be the best thing going in season 4. i don't expect melisandre to be jon's mother since ned's description of her to robert doesn't line up and i don't think he would have lied. as someone else mentioned, i think it was more of a "you're a key dude" look she gave.

lannister storyline was disappointing, i think. not really sure what varys is up to.

maybe i'm aspie but i did not sense there was such a high level of bad blood between hound and arya, to the point where shes going to leave him to die a slow agonizing death. i really didn't expect that at all.

Mostly, yeah, but had I not watched them then the Bravos coin thing with Arya would have made no sense to me because I'd completely forgotten about that whole thing.

After thinking about it, the worst scene is the one that leads up to Brienne and Sandor fighting. The fight was great, but how they got there is total crap. I can't stand it when shows/movies create drama from the lack of communication. All Brienne has to do is pull out Hot Pie's bread, explain that the sword is Ice reforged, and explain a little about her time with Catelyn, Renly, and Robb. It's not that difficult. But now Brienne is onward to the Eyrie where she'll undoubtedly meet Sansa and explain that she just saw Arya but Arya ran off and she didn't take the time to look for more than ten minutes. A Stark reunion doesn't kill the show. I don't see how much longer we can keep avoiding them.

Wildlings stood no chance against a mounted calvary charge where they surrounded Mance before he has a chance to give orders.

i dont think we're supposed to interpret that scene as wildling weakness. a large portion of their army was deployed and their leader and others were preoccupied with snow (the leader of the faction they are currently fighting).

can you please stop bringing up the books in any way shape or form? it doesn't matter whether you're spoiling stuff or not. it's adds absolutely nothing to the conversation. none of us care about the books or what they include/don't include.
