First 40 minutes were amazing. Didn't love the ending, didn't hate it. Amazing show.

Trying to decide which I'd have preferred:

1) Ending with Rust dying in Marty's arms
2) Ending with Marty sobbing with his family in the room or Rust just sitting in his hospital bed on lifetilt
3) Actual ending

Neil DeGrasse Tyson's show. Gonna watch it after GSW/PHX

Great ending. Very satisfying. Put me in such a good mood. The suspense was sick too.

show was great overall, last episode was just okay, but honestly i think it's pretty tough to put an ending on a show like that.

I thought the show was good but wouldn't call much of anything great after a handful of episodes. Needed to see that they had a good ending and it was much better then I anticipated. Great season of television.

outstanding ending

closed it with what the show did best
what kinda resolution did people expect?

Thought it was pretty good although I didn't necessarily like the
Spoiler:
non resolution of marty's daughter's dolls and their gang rape type scene but whatever no big deal, good season. just a red herring i guess which is prob fine

ending was incredible, seriously what could anyone else have expected?

It was just people reading into things waaaaaaaaay too much. They thought there was going to be some sort of M Night twist with Audrey.

I'm a fan of the ending:

Spoiler:
It became clear that the show wasn't trying to pull some sort of Usual Suspects trick on the viewer, so I'm not sure what would have satisfied people who hated this ending. Rust and Marty are somewhat redeemed through their perseverance, the crime isn't entirely solved (it never can be, right? - "Nothing's ever fulfilled, not until the very end" and "Nothing is ever over."), we get the satisfaction of lawnmower dweeb taking a round to the dome, the **** going down was creepy enough to unsettle from the first second of the episode, Carcosa was twisted but not supernatural or anything dumb like that, and the characters developed believably over time.

This is how many, many stories about people resolve. I think it was a measured and wise ending.

I didn't LOVE Rust's speech about the light winning - it's a little too optimistic for him - but I don't hate that he's in a better place than he was, or that he touched the void and found it soothing and populated by loved ones, or that his tenuous friendship with Marty will ultimately survive.

I perused OOTV quickly and saw some complaining about the Audrey situation, and I don't get that. That was resolved last week when we learned she'd moved and was doing fine. That's not the MO of the victims. If the dolls ever meant anything at all it was because one of the girls from the school had something happen to her, and the Occam's razor explanation is it had nothing to do with anything.

Yup. A very solid ending to a great season of television.

Cosmos was amazing too.

Spoiler:
I need to rewatch but I didn't feel closure for the conspiracy story lines especially when the main villain is a swamp living hoarder who shares orgasms with his inbred cousin or the time loop (though i did wonder if that was supposed to be Cohle tied to the bed), and frankly a chase scene where both cops get got left something to be desired for what has otherwise been compelling tv.

Still a fantastic show, looked forward to it every week, rewatched most episodes.

why i didn't think it was amazing
Spoiler:
at this point my standards for tv shows might be a little high, but i like to see shows that think outside the box a bit. i think this show had a golden opportunity in that it could have ended without a silly gory five minute scene with a stab wound that looked quite unsurvivable to me and the ol double back victim becomes the shooter ending. had woody just shot the guy in a pretty timely manner i would have liked that more. had there been no penultimate fight i would ahve been even happier-- the show just didn't have to go that way.

also i just feel like there weren't a lot of answers, it's just a farm guy? what specifically did he do to his victims (it seems like quite a bit of random raping/killing, and i guess if that's waht it is then okay, but with serial killer type i guess i expected it to be more than "he rapes some random girls/boys and ties ppl to beds and tortures them and sometimes he buries the body in the yard and osmetimes he puts it under a tree with a crown of thorns")?

anyway, i only watched it once through and i really enjoyed it overall, think the acting was awesome, etc. i just wish more shows would challenge the status quo/red herring stuff (aka i wish more shows were GOT obv)

edit: i find it pretty likely that i missed some key points elements to the show that tied together a little more behind the bad guy besides "aha! he was here in plain sight all along!"

I'll have to sleep on it because I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, but I'll be forever thankful for Daddario's T&A in episode 2, so True Detective. Come back soon.
