This is a signup thread for a pokemon draft. The current gameplan is to have 12 teams draft 10 pokemon each, and have playoffs to determine the winner. Top 4 seeds will receive a first round bye.

I think the format should go ABBABABABABAB

The plan is to only use the original 151 pokemon in this draft. If you guys want to make all of the other pokemon draftable we can obviously add more players.

I will be in and out all day today so when I get back I will review who has signed up and decide who makes the tournament.

Bottom line is if I don't think you're the type of poster who has the heart of a pokemon master in you, you're probably not going to be allowed in.

Also draft format and everything else is up for discussion. I'll be checking back in a few hours most likely.

man i was an enormous pokemon fan for awhile, had like all the cards, i remember how sick opening a new pack and hoping there'd be some rare ones was, beat all 3 of the original games (yellow>blue>red imo).

that being said i remember absolutely nothing about it lol

In with a teammate, but only if it's kept restricted to first generation (as it is now) or first plus second.

also it should just be 150 as UNDRAFTED can win without drafting another pokemon

Hahaha...I love this. I think 10 for each team is a little much, especially with the limit of using 6 in a pokebattle. But I'd definitely love to take part.

am i correct in assuming the pokemon we select will never evolve?

I also like 6. Getting stuck with undrafted that I always bought outside of mt moon anyway is like ending up with 72o in a werewolf mod draft.

It's obviously up to the commish. Just my feeling is that with 6/7 it takes more "Skill" in drafting as you just can't take a pokemon that directly counters one of the top teams later on and that pokemon would have little use any other way. Also if it were just 7 rounds there is definitely less chance of the draft fading away at the end. These drafts should be short and sweet.

Judging criteria needs to be loosely defined too.

Unless we just do battles. Then it's easy.

In!. I already know who im drafting assuming it falls to me.

Do 6 pokemon teams since that's is the amount you can carry at once in the game or was it 5 in the originals.

pokemon don't usually gain enough experience points in a 12 man tournament to evolve anyway

I feel so old. I'll probably read the draft thread, but I will have no idea what I'm reading.

Yeah I wasn't thinking in these terms. Definitely don't think that there should be so many rounds all 151 get drafted. End rounds will be boring cause who really wants to draft magikarp or metapod, etc.

IMO there should be some kind of level adjustment so we don't have crap like level 99 pokemon that should have evolved to another pokemon 79 levels ago.

maybe 3 lvl 15 pokemon, 3 lvl 30, 3 lvl 55, 1 lvl 95? and pokemon only fight the same lvl as themselves, obv.

In with a co-owner

that makes the lvl 95 first pick way too valuable.

Okay, make it four lvl 55ers then.
We need the distribution of levels in our draft to match the level distribution of the 151 so we don't have a bunch of undrafted pokemon because they're low levels (but can still fight to an extent)

Looks like we're doing 6 rounds.
