Since I was talking about 1996 as being a great year in music, and I wanted to go off the alternative mainstream, I'm posting these here, from one of my favorite country albums, Lyle Lovett's The Road to Ensenada:
about a month ago I got this song stuck in my head and I couldn't figure out what it was. It was so beautiful I thought I had created my own song and just needed to play an instrument to share it with everyone!
Then I finally re-stumbled across it and LDO it is Belle and Sebastian. So beautiful.
pretty neat analysis of Radiohead's "Daydreaming" video, directed by P.T. Anderson
Quote:
Kaneria’s general analysis is valid—that the song is about Thom Yorke’s breakup with his longtime partner, as well as the tension between domesticity and big-time artistic dreams. The recurring images of women and motherhood are hard to deny, as well as the video’s reverse narrative of death to birth.
