Since I was talking about 1996 as being a great year in music, and I wanted to go off the alternative mainstream, I'm posting these here, from one of my favorite country albums, Lyle Lovett's The Road to Ensenada:

Can't stop listening to it. Never really latched onto either of their first two albums, but Currents is amazing.

Glad you bumped the thread bc I've just listened to the Bosstones like five times in a row

I love songs where the bass is so apparent

Oh hey it's Chris Thile.

Much prefer his minimalistic **** like Punch Brothers - Julep

They visited NPR too.

And that Nickel Creek album kicked ass.

Yup I like the Punch Brothers a lot

Obv most people know him from Nickel Creek

They visited NPR as well, he might've gone solo at one point too - I think he's been there more than anyone

Saw Punch Bros live in Austin in '12. They are phenomenal musicians. But the show was boring otherwise

about a month ago I got this song stuck in my head and I couldn't figure out what it was. It was so beautiful I thought I had created my own song and just needed to play an instrument to share it with everyone!

Then I finally re-stumbled across it and LDO it is Belle and Sebastian. So beautiful.

Rage Against the Machine -Zach +Chuck D & B-Real = Prophets of Rage

expected this to be worse, as these things almost always are

think they've written other new songs too, so maybe there'll be an album at some point

pretty neat analysis of Radiohead's "Daydreaming" video, directed by P.T. Anderson

Quote:
Kaneria’s general analysis is valid—that the song is about Thom Yorke’s breakup with his longtime partner, as well as the tension between domesticity and big-time artistic dreams. The recurring images of women and motherhood are hard to deny, as well as the video’s reverse narrative of death to birth.

seems like quite a bit of thought and effort went into this, especially considering that music videos aren't so much of a thing anymore #artists
