Pretty crazy to think what he could've accomplished with any kind of cooperation from Congress on certain stuff.

Obama was a crap President, and with the benefit of hindsight some of you will one day be able to differentiate feckless foreign policy that has made the world far more chaotic from an ability to give a speech to a biased audience.

I do agree that this is a great surrogate speech, though.

Some pretty good domestic initiatives that can't and shouldn't be ignored, though.

smh.

This excuse is his spin on a major failing. Great Presidents work with Congress, not blame them. Clinton had the most hostile Congress in perhaps modern times, at least up until that point, when the sweep in '94 happened, and he worked with them on issue after issue and balanced the friggin budget. Obama has done pretty much nothing with Congress since the Dems lost their majorities in '10, instead going through Executive Orders (more than once this was unconstitutional, as the Supreme Court has decided).

and increase the power of insurance providers

I find comfort in this reminder that despite vast differences, even domer and I can come together, for a time, on how lol Trump is.

These are the people that listen to Rush for 3 hours a day, followed by Hannity for 3 hours a day. When you hear that **** for 6 hours straight every day you start to believe it.

Can you give an example of an executive order you thought was out of line and what compromises you think Obama should have made to get legislation through Congress?

It's easy to say he should have "worked with them more" because the idea that if he had just been nicer, the GOP would have come to the party is an unfalsifiable counterfactual. Talk in specifics.

I mean, the 113th Congress was the least productive ever, while Obama signed many less executive orders than either Clinton or Bush. I realize that the nature of those executive orders was frequently different, but you're still going to have to $how your work to contend that the problem was Obama, not Congress.

At the bar I had lunch in yesterday I heard 2 dudes talking about how the white house wasn't built by slaves as like the main talking point from the dnc so far. these people just don't know what they're hearing isn't the truth.

It's a shame the best President I may ever live through got his 8 years railroaded by a minority party whose stated mission is to make sure the government does as little as possible to help anybody.

People who don't live in reality (who also tend to skew Republican oddly enough) really do believe this. It doesn't make it true in the least.
