You do know how one could interpret that post when Occam's razor doesn't yield mispost based on context. Correct?

I'm sorry that I didn't attribute your post to a **** up. I don't know how to proceed in the future.

No.

The post doesn't make any sense and I'm not inclined to elegant metaphor.

Things look nice from a posh position while our interventionist policies don't impact the common man here. People are dying and we're enjoying the view.

It's poking at the person you were supposedly responding to.

In this case, I appreciate being given too much credit.

I've long been a non-interventionist, (mostly) closed-border free marketer. The neocon forays - uninterrupted for fifteen years - have been a disaster.

I'd prefer to be an open borders person, but you have to make a firm choice between open borders and a sustainable welfare state. The welfare state isn't going anywhere. Open borders are excellent for my lifestyle and garbage for bottom-rung Americans.

I worry if you eliminate the welfare state how the bottom rung will respond (violence and crime). As well as morally obv I don't want people dying of starvation. I don't believe in some invisible hand of benevolent welfare that will emerge. Your solution is raising the level of living for blue collar folk, I understand.

I'm just dubious of the implementation. If you could guarantee a closure of the borders maybe that could ensure that. I'm just unclear of the unintended consequences of such a move nor how pragmatic it actually is.

This is the beauty of the tree fiddy plan, you can even have completely open borders.

continued from above, not a reply to Thayer's post:

Would we have to become this isolationist mecca that cuts off a lot of trade and just becomes this solely self-sufficient thing?

Huge tariffs?

Otherwise, how does fewer people being able to buy cheaper Chinese, or elsewhere, goods help anyone? What kind of trade-offs are we looking at in the immediacy when our consumer buying power plummets?

IDGAF about the long run depending on the timeline. In the long run we're all dead.

Lol jobs, lol protectionism, lol benevolent leaders.

Tree. Fiddy.

Close to 20k per person a year is spent by governments here, and people are born with 70k in debt to the government and look what it's gotten most people... what a ****ing crock.

UBI is by far the best solution for a future that is unfathomable and a future that the status quo is completely illprepared for. Just directly give citizens money and stop with the corruptible exploitable bureacratic baloney.

Oh yeah and stop destroying the world too.

More examples of Trump's genius on display.

He goes after a Federal judge for 12 minutes in front of his crowd of nitwits. Accuses the judge of being a Mexican, and wants him investigated. I'm guessing this was met with raucous applause.

Quote:
In one of his most personal attacks against an apolitical figure since becoming the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump delivered an extended tirade about the federal judge overseeing the civil litigation against his defunct education program.

Mr. Trump’s attack on U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel was extraordinary not just in its scope and intensity but for its location: Before a crowd packed into a convention center here that had been primed for the New York billionaire with a warm-up speech from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

“I have a judge who is a hater of Donald Trump, a hater. He’s a hater. His name is Gonzalo Curiel,” Mr. Trump said, as the crowd of several thousand booed. “He is not doing the right thing. And I figure, what the hell? Why not talk about it for two minutes?”

Mr. Trump spoke for far more than two minutes about Judge Curiel and the Trump University case–he devoted 12 minutes of a 58-minute address to the litigation, which is scheduled to go to trial in San Diego federal court Nov. 28. Mr. Trump’s attorney said earlier this month that Mr. Trump would testify in the six-year-old case.

The plaintiffs in the Trump University case, whom Mr. Trump also condemned by name Friday, accuse him and the now-defunct school of defrauding people who paid up to $35,000 for real estate advice. Mr. Trump said Friday that Trump University received “mostly unbelievable reviews” from its 10,000 students.

To the San Diego crowd, Mr. Trump argued that Judge Curiel should be removed from the case because he is biased against him. The evidence Mr. Trump presented: Rulings against him and the fact that Judge Curial was appointed to the bench by President Barack Obama. The Senate confirmed Judge Curiel by a voice vote in September 2012.

“We’re in front of a very hostile judge,” Mr. Trump said. “The judge was appointed by Barack Obama, federal judge. Frankly, he should recuse himself because he’s given us ruling after ruling after ruling, negative, negative, negative.”

Mr. Trump also told the audience, which had previously chanted the Republican standard-bearer’s signature “build that wall” mantra in reference to Mr. Trump’s proposed wall along the Mexican border, that Judge Curiel is “Mexican.”

“What happens is the judge, who happens to be, we believe, Mexican, which is great. I think that’s fine,” Mr. Trump said.

Judge Curiel was born in Indiana.

“I think Judge Curiel should be ashamed of himself,” Mr. Trump said. “I’m telling you, this court system, judges in this court system, federal court, they ought to look into Judge Curiel. Because what Judge Curiel is doing is a total disgrace, OK? But we’ll come back in November. Wouldn’t that be wild if I’m president and I come back to do a civil case? Where everybody likes it. OK. This is called life, folks.”

Democrats nominated someone who is corrupt, avaricious, in possession of 0 core beliefs, and completely unlikable.

And the choice before voters is either her or a paranoid, unintelligent, wannabe-dictator. Who, among other things, defrauded thousands of people with a pretend university course.

Incredible.

Shooting at UCLA in the last hour, 2 victims, status unknown, school on lockdown.

EDIT: Reporting is probably unreliable and source is unknown, but now seeing reports that the victims have passed away. No new info about shooter other than black clothes. Took place in the Engineering IV building, which neighbors a building called Boelter Hall. Students are barricading classrooms and being asked by police to remain in place during the search.
